Proposal: A Way to Pirate Slaves and Free Them

First Post for me here! Hello Everyone!!

I wanted to see if there was a way or a way to make a suggestion for game play.

The Idea: A way to pirate slaves and imperial slaves from other players/Npc's and instead of just reselling them, could there be a way to actually free them?

Thanks for the feedback

Closest you can get for now is docking at a "safe" port for them and discarding cargo.

The Idea: A way to pirate slaves and imperial slaves

Freeing slaves certainly sounds like a potentially interesting game play idea. It could possibly be done by having rescue missions spawn in systems neighbouring agriculture anarchy systems; get the mission reward right & escorts of the slavery transport & it could rather fun! As for Imperial Slaves, they actually don't want to be freed as it is voluntary; it's akin to doing community service to clear financial & honorary debts.

I like this idea too. Could freed slaves not just be added to the list of items needed by a Search and Rescue agent?

I absolutely support this idea. IIRC, there are occasionally missions for freeing slaves, but now that I ended up in possession of slaves, I can't find any.

Maybe you all should read about Imperial slaves.

Many Imperials will choose to sell themselves into a fixed period of slavery than face the embarrassment and dishonour of living with a debt.
Note that there is a difference between Imperial Slaves and Slaves. Imperial Slaves are people who willingly enter into indentured servitude to pay off their debts, and are granted the rights and protection of Imperial citizens, and are not chattel property.

So as you can see Imperial slaves are not Property and are paying off a debt, Unlike regular slavery which is a victim of a crime.

One thing that is kinda bad... Occasionally I'm in a combat build with no cargo hold and blast some pirate to blithereens, and then there are containers of slaves floating around. I feel there should be some way to alert the authorities to stolen flotsam, and that they would then retrieve it, prioritizing slave containers.

Very good idea!

Good idea. We should also get a way to turn passengers into black market slaves.

Another good idea. And If I remember right, in old Frontier Elite sell passengers as slaves was possible. In old Elite if you dont install life support in cargo bay slaves or lives animal became meat to sell, ops

I'd love if you could convert slaves in your cargo into "freed slaves" or "refugees" or something. This would then be legal to carry, but freed imperial slaves could be illegal where imperial slavery is legal (the conversion itself is probably an imperial crime; you're effectively kidnapping people and forcibly breaking their contracts, from the imperial point of view). You could turn them in at search and rescue contacts.

Could maybe even have factions flagged as whether they accept refugees (or support anti-slavery charity work), and ones that don't would refuse to take them or make you pay to drop them off.

Minimal features like that, but give you a little framework to roleplay around either dedicated anti-slavery work or just wanting to find a safe port for some slaves you happened to stumble across when you don't support slavery.

Well regular slaves. I could see the idea working. But Imperial slaves. They are working off a sentence of a crime minor or major. Just like in California, the Inmates of a prison help fight forest fires or clean up the roads to help reduce a sentence.

I used to do this in the Frontiers load up my Imperial transport and head out to the rim to some farming world and set them free.

Under Imperial Law, Imperial Slaves are not Property and are paying off a debt and can only be moved between imperial systems
In practice, they are transported out of Imperial Space

I am sure Imperial Slaves found on the Commodities Markets of Anarchies, Independent Dictatorships and Independent Patronages might actually want to be returned to Imperial Space, as they have clearly been kidnapped already to end up in Non Imperial Markets for sale, so Imperial slaves on ships in system are likely victims too that need rescuing as the OP describes

Remember in Aug 3301 a surprise audit of the Imperial Slave Association show numerous violations of Imperial Slave law.

There have also been the occasional missions by Imperial Factions requesting the Import of Imperial Slaves in order to free them as a show of largess by that Faction in the flavour text, as well those Supporters of Aisling and "Sop Slavery Stupid" would also be paying off Imperial Salves debts to free them

Yes. Please. Scanning ships at starports, and seeing they are carrying slaves, but knowing despite this the station will open up on me for trying to liberated them (even though the slave are illegal at the station). Ships carrying slave should be considered fair game (cargo scanning them should grant something like the authority granted by the KWS (allowing them to be attacked with out the station interfering.)

This comes up from time to time. There's some talk, but no one does anything.

If anyone was serious about freeing slaves (and anyone who is serious about freeing slaves can see that 'Imperial' Slaves are as much slaves as Slaves slaves) they would fit a manifest scanner to a fast combat ship and hang around slave market systems, scanning players in Open and attacking anyone carrying Slaves. Or else get organized and form an Anti-Slavery Squadron that does the same thing in a group. But that doesn't happen. So.
