I would not be surprised if others proposed something similar. Could not find a proposal.
Now we have 3 categories of cargo:
1. Normal. Cargo you bought. This is the only cargo you truly own.
2. Stolen. You stole this cargo and may have even killed innocents to get it.
You can only sell it at black markets.
3. Illegal. (drugs/weapons/slaves/black boxes etc)
Categories 1 and 2 are treated basically the same upon discovery by the cops.
You can only sell it at black markets.
I would like to add two other categories that would make salvaging more interesting and diverse:
4. Confiscated.
This is cargo you take from those that are wanted.
Confiscated illegal: Treated like any illegal cargo. It can only be sold at black markets.
Confiscated legal cargo: You should be able to turn this cargo in at your local police station for let's say 75% of it's value.
5. Found.
Found legal cargo: You should be able to hand it over to the cops for a 50% finder's fee.
Found illegal cargo: Treated like any illegal cargo: Can only be sold at a black market

I would like Black markets to sell illegal stuff too.
