Powerplay Proposal- No PP tick this turn.

I guess the last 3 days have been a struggle for many due to timeouts and unavailable servers.

My suggestion is to reset the PP situation to what it was at the beginning of this tick.

Merits earned this tick will be kept additionally and you receive no merit decay for the next tick.

Something like that as a small refund for the inconvenience and to put all on the same level. Some would surely love that changes carry over because they haven't been affected that much, others in turn could barely play.

I hope i am not asking for too much but this issues hit at prime time in a couple of time zones and lasted for several hours.

Even now at time of writing the servers are gone again.

I am not mad at anyone- such things can happen. But be cool and give the community something back in return.

Uhm ... the 'servers' were working over here. O: Atleast when I have played. The last downtime was whe nthe last cycle ended ... sorry mate, everything alright over here :/

So you did not notice the several downtimes the last 3 days everyone was talking about and devs responded to here, reddit and twitter? As i mentioned- some didn't "suffer" because of different timezone. Don't think that it affects just some people and others not. Nonetheless, servers been down, devs know about it and imho after 3 days in a row it became a big bummer for PP, etc.

And what about those who are waiting for the tick to get Rank 3 to get the necessary equipment? Will they have to wait one more week?

A handful of people getting a module after 15 weeks of having time to already get it is more important than the work of all the people within those 15 weeks for the powers to be where they are?

Time is quite a big deal for most of the powers, since fortifications are of absolute essence to us.

It's not that bad yet, but one more downtime and everyone who doesn't have Arissa's numbers is pretty much forced to spend billions of credits total in order to make up for the lost time.

The galaxy clock does not stop...... keep it as normal

There are plenty of people who got several modules and are going for the next one.

It is much worse exactly to people who already got merits and are waiting for the tick than to those who were affected by server issues.

earned merits will stay, no decay this time and of course you'd be able to get that module. But people could not "work" PP this time. That was just a suggestion and there are plenty of other possible solutions.

Time marches on, regardless of the reasons why things couldn't be accomplished in a particular cycle, delaying or halting the results for that cycle should not happen. It is akin to playing favorites.

If you were sick and couldn't play, should the cycle be halted?
If your ISP had a major outage and you couldn't play, should the cycle be halted?

Everyone faced the same issue during the cycle. Some were affected because of clock times when it happened, and others were not. That isn't a reason to halt the cycle

I think it is a huge difference if it is just a sickness or problems with the ISP and your end that holds you off or if it is the transaction server that boots everyone off on a couple of consecutive days during the prime time of many. The issues for this are not on our end.

It affected participation this week massively and something should be done.

I think an excuse for the inconvenience and a halt could be reasonable.

If you tried to connect to the game through the Sprint backbone system this weekend, then you may have had trouble, since Sprint had a huge outage. Since this was caused by an issue with Sprint, and not by FD, should FD also halt the system because those users couldn't connect to the system because of a problem by Sprint?

No online company can every guarantee that their system will be up and running 24/7. In fact, it is clearly outlined as such in the ToU for Elite that they do not guarantee that the game will either be error-free nor that there will not be interruptions:

Asking for concessions because of unforeseen issues is unreasonable, especially when most people who play online games should, by now, be well aware that there will be issues or interruptions that affect the game.

It sucks.
It Happens
Get over it :)
