Proposition Of The F63 Condor and the Imperial Fighter In Use On Exploration Vessels.

From some very close examination of various posts, we're getting up to two fighter ships max, condors, or imperial fighters.

They said they don't want a "Russian doll effect ". So no sidewinder in the anaconda despite the description, and the fact it would be utterly awesome.

Kind of a cool idea to be able to drop from fighter to srv, but.... Not much point. If you can carry a fighter, you can carry an srv as well. It'd just save a slot.

It'll be a little fun to fight npcs with you ship and some fighters, or launch your friends to fight in them. The first few times though.

Right but the srv's are in desperate need for diversity, and there wouldn't be any real point to take a fighter out into deep space for exploration purposes, they're also only really good in my opinion for multi-crewed ships, which not all of us are going to be flying multi-crew. My idea gives the F63 Condor and the Imperial Fighter an actual use outside of combat. No ship in elite dangerous to this point has EVER had a singular purpose, they've excelled at certain points but they could still do the other parts. Example. A vulture doesn't really make a good trading ship, it excels in combat, but you could STILL do trading with it.

The F63 Condor and the Imperial Fighter what use are they going to have outside of combat? Can they jump to different systems? No. Can they trade? Not really, especially if they won't be able to go into super cruise. They'll only have the sole purpose of Combat. The SRV, can it explore? Yes, can it fight? Yes. Can it carry things? Yes. And if you REALLLLLY wanted to. You could even Trade in an SRV Running from one station on the planet, to another station on the planet. with that 2T cargo hold.

If they make it so that the F63 Condor and the Imperial Fighter are used as a multi-purpose ship that can also do Surface Reconnaissance, then it will essentially make the Planetary vehicle hangar obsolete in ships that choose this option, so if they were to use the vehicle hangar to store another F63 Condor or an Imperial Fighter. You could store that one extra ship on your ship. Since you'll have chosen that over the regular SRV.

I really like the idea, it's actually the only thing I'm expecting from ship launched from others as I'll probably not use it a lot for combat.
If I'm able to simply deploy it while I'm in orbit around a planet, then if I'm able to go down, prospect and land on it while my main ship is up here then it would be really awesome.. Still dreams though.

The idea of the detachable cockpit to a little SRV is nice too, I like the concept.

I'm glad you like the idea as well :)

And I definitely get where you're coming from about exploration in deep space, it's what made me think of this, otherwise the fighter bay will have no advantage in exploration absolutely none. And if we're going to go in multi-crew exploration, then we'd all be stuck in the same ship, and you'd have to take turns flying that ship. But if you can have 3 F63 Condors or Imperial Fighters (because you sold your planetary vehicle hangar for the extra third) then three of you can all go down to the planet at once four if you're going with the mothership, or however many are on the mother ship. I still think four 'fighter' ships would be ideal but hey that's just me. I mean they're not that much bigger than an SRV :\

What we really need for Exploration would be something that amounts to a baby Diamondback that would fit in the fighter hangar, and can be used to land on planets. Basically, an explorer's drop shuttle, keeping their expensive, heavy ship in orbit while they go down to check out the surface pf a high-G planet with less chance of splattering their main ship across the surface (naturally, there would still be the issues of recovering them if they splatter the dropship, but w/e). This wouldn't be something like the Condor or iFighter, but instead an exploration styled ship...hence why I thought of a Diamondback-like design. Possibly even unarmed, but carrying an SRV or some specialized exploration gear.

I feel sorry for the metaphorical horse you seem to be beating. The flying car has always been a cool idea but never practical both now and in the future. For example in the scenario that they put in all the time and money to completly overhaul the 2 ship designs what are you going to do on the planet?
A) take screenshots (very pretty ones Im sure)
B) Collect materials for synthesis
C) Collect cargo? Nope no cargo space
All these options instead of fitting the appropriate thrusters which were not installed so that you could get a better jump range by saving weight. Weight that you used up installing a fighter bay and 4 ships to go in it now having the same range as if you had just installed the thrusters...

Unless we are given ships that are unable to land planet side (please capital ships) the idea branch youre on doesnt work unfortunatly :-(

D) Make for an enriching gaming experience.

You have to remember there is a reason they might not have upgraded the thrusters on the ship, reason being is that they give people more of an edge in combat, allowing for the all important maneuverability of a ship and at the same time increases its speed. This way they don't have to compromise their 'promise' of balanced ships while also making surface exploration more fun! They're going to have to put time and money into designing more SRV's anyways, and this they won't even have to completely overhaul it, they already have half of it complete. So it's easier not just from a technical standpoint, but from a financial one as well. And they will EVENTUALLY make surface exploration more rewarding, especially when we're able to land on Earth-likes and chase around Dinosauruses.

I like the idea of a baby Diamondback exploration ship, but they'd have to make it as small as the imperial fighter and the F63 Condor, so I don't think it'd be capable of carrying a planetary vehicle hangar. But I do like the design of the Diamondback (it's why I'm flying one 20,000 Lys to the rift!) You have to remember though, the Imperial Fighter and the F63 Condor are a lot smaller than you might think they are. (They actually make the sidewinder look big in comparison) But if they were able to make it have a planetary vehicle hangar that'd be okay with me as well.

A couple of these would be great for searching planets for barnacles, especially when multi crew becomes a thing

edit: If there were more scanning gameplay options, then even without the buggies it would be interesting

Or even not for multicrew, they would still be great fun I think.
