Even in discovered systems there will be a lot of unexplored planets that SCO makes much more accessible now!
Unless you go seeking out combat, you probably won't meet many hostile NPC-s on foot. Depends on mission and system--seems that doing salvage missions in a system where no anarchy faction (ie pirates and gangsters) is present has lower chance of hostiles.1. Ground combat focused DLC, with possibility to on-foot exploring.
Yeah, these short bursts are all that is needed in 99% cases. Fuel consumption only becomes a problem with 100kls+ distances2 .SCO drive eats a lot of fuel so it is not possible to use it for longer time but usually short burst is sufficient.
EVA-s and ad hoc ship repairs if you don't have an AFMU would be cool as hell3. No ability to exit ship in space (unless inside station), apply fixes (like patching canopy), moving inside ship (except limited FC internal space).
OTOH, an entry midrange level card like RX 6600 or RTX 3060 can manage 60 FPS on FHD, possibly even at QHD. Even the positively antique AMD Polaris and GTX 1000 series manage playable FHD frame rates. Upper midrange cards like RX 7800 XT (which I have) can easily do 100+ FPS at QHD plus 1.25x supersampling at highest settings. Most of the times you're seeing frame rate drops it's CPU limitations in on-foot conflict zones, but AMD 5700X3D is cheap and powerful enough for most situations. People should retire their 750Ti-s and 3770K-s already4. Serious FPS drop on the same hardware when compared to horizon (both in space and on the ground).
Most really don't. Stealth missions and non-violent missions are, in fact, the majority. Salvage missions can have combat, but it depends on the location and if you want to avoid on-foot shootouts a pair of class 1 advanced missile racks allow you to nuke the site from orbit and grab the McGuffin in peace after the dust settles.5. Various missions for on-foot activity but sadly most of them require combat (although it can be avoided to some extent if You learn how to be hard to detect, but there is no active stealth mechanic present).
Not anymore! Material requirements are reduced significantly and mission payouts are now so good that you can get all what you need to upgrade a suit from grade 1 to grade 5 in a day without relogging or farming settlements. I've managed to collect nearly 100 manufacturing instructions and dozens of other stuffz like weapon components and -schematics since the Type 8 and engineering update.6. Long grind to fully upgrade suit but on the other hand there are only 3 types of them.
...and these events are glorious!7. Odyssey has "live" BGS so all new events (like thargoid war) are only here.
Moar swag is moar swag8. New ranks of elite (like elite I, elite II, up to V).
Python MKII is just so damn good at its purpose it makes most other combat ships almost obsolete. Almost because luckily it's not OP and has limitations you have to work around. Still, it's either that or nerfhammer the FDL9. New ships: right now only type-8 and python MKII
The stealth mechanics are pretty good--LOS detection, auditory detection, quite well balanced NPC patrol routes that allow the patient player to always slip through or take out their target where no-one will stumble upon. The only negative I find is that NPC-s don't react to players flashlight and at the same time have horrible light discipline--like, dudes, your flashlights can be seen literally from a mile away, there's a murderhobo sneaking around in your settlement and it never occurs to you to maybe, just maybe, turn your damn lights off so you don't give your position and movements away! Granted, most other modern stealth games have (borderline OP) hiding mechanics where you become basically invisible when you hide in a bush or something, but there are no bushes to hide in in Odyssey settlements so I don't know how Fdev could have implemented something like it without becoming completely silly (like, oh, I dunno, climbing under a cardboard box or somethingI also like challenge to do missions without killing or being detected but sadly there is no actual stealth mechanic in game (that means things like cloaking device for me). All You can do is to learn how to lower chances of being detected.
Thanks for that!Humble Bundle (steam keys) has EDO on sale for $9.74 Usd currently. So I just purchased it for one of my Steam Alts. Only one alt left to upgrade to Ody, and it's my Epic freebie account.
EDO is worth it currently, and it helps support Fdev. So if you do not feel like buying Arx for whatever reason, it is another way to support Fdev.
It's GBP 9,99 at FDev directly right now and there should not be a problem to connect that to Steam. Thanks for that!
I had recently set up a wish list for Odyssey on Steam and they said I would get an email notice when it went on discount. I bought Horizons through them a few years back and my copy is through their interface. Would buying from the other folks work with Steam? I only use the one game on my PC. So not a lot of recent gaming experience. I'm from the days of buying the software and having a disk to load in once I got home!
Those are available to live-Horizons players as well.2 .SCO drive eats a lot of fuel so it is not possible to use it for longer time but usually short burst is sufficient.

Spire sites beg to differ.Con? Its a disaster since its release. UNTIL TODAY the "foot on the ground" stay THE SAME without a single relevant upgrade or improvement. No new missions, not a single lore happening on ground (only the endless Goid and boring superpower struggles), no relevant improvement in exobio or planet exploration: not interesting new discoveries, or lore mysteries, no exo-animals, not a single Biome on the planets, NOTHING. It's everything the same boring stuff SINCE THE BEGINNING.
That's it.
Well, if the missions with revenants seem to have been removed, then they didn't seem to exist.Spire sites beg to differ.
BTW; as a general point it's worth noting that the price of the expansion has been reduced to $14.99. So compared to release it is on perpetual sale and well worth the money IMO. Of course YMMV but you won't know until you give it a go, and for $15, that's not much of a barrier to entry IMO (again). o7
Well, if the missions with revenants seem to have been removed, then they didn't seem to exist.
I know. I just answered the wrong person. The missions aren't there but the revenants and their banshee friends can still be found at military bases in occupied systems. Very much so. Mapon has a few of those last time I looked.
Its a disaster since its release. UNTIL TODAY the "foot on the ground" stay THE SAME without a single relevant upgrade or improvement. No new missions,
Did I understand you correctly, that no one will buy a ship like this after it appearsIt will be interesting to see if FDev give us a dedicated SCO optimised exploration ship as one of the new ships this year. Exobiology exploration massively favours small ships because of the very limited suitable landing places in some areas.
Claiming no one will do something in ED is setting yourself up for a fall for two reasonsDid I understand you correctly, that no one will buy a ship like this after it appears
