Decided to find my own mining site today.

I have to say that I find the process of looking for fresh grounds to mine, to be rather relaxing.

Found a good spot. Lots of Alexandrite. Gonna' get my mining config' there tomorrow to smash some rocks.

Agree I just reinstalled to check out mining and I really enjoy the added depth. I'm looking forward to finding my own personal spot as well. Wonderful emergent gameplay.

Agreed as well. Its a great time and relaxing to boot. The Dark interior of my Python also helps where I mine to help with that deep calming feel (the sun is a neutron where i mine so its dim)

I couldn't do the old mining to dull. This keeps you thinking and I like that. My Python with a dull blue hud is a very relaxing place also.

The good thing is, even if they halve the prices in the inevitable nerf, it still makes a good amount of money and is fun [up]

Yup, even at half pay, I would have still made a cool 500m in 3 weeks, and had fun doing it. [up]

(To put the in to perspective, I only get 10~ hours a week to play)

Indeed! Mining used to be well borin' and I only mined when I HAD to, for unlocking engineers or for a CG. Now I do it because I WANT to. Plus, explosions!

Parts of mining are working well, you've got the discovery aspect which I think is good except for the fact high value hot spots are too easy/common/close to bubble atm I'd prefer to see a more expedition approach. Then you have the different mining options/methods which go from the outside in (again I like the principal and variety) but why not just go straight for deep core atm? Once you have your mined minerals you can get them back to sell relatively risk free (a shame imho and wasted gameplay opportunity for piracy). Finally when you do return what is there to do with the minerals other than sell for a high price? What reward is credits alone to a wealthy player?

In short mining is better now definitely, there are still many gaps missed Frontier has improved the core mechanics but not really done much to the gameplay.

I think somewhere Ed or someone else from FDEV posted that the number of cores is finite and would become rarer as people mined them. The current situation allows people to get the hang of it in relatively easy places because you wouldn't want to go half way to Colonia and find out that you've forgotten an important module.

Yep, despite having played since launch i never did try it. Have come back after a year and given it a go and, you are right... It's quite relaxing. Grab a cuppa joe, put media player on playing music in the backgroud and dig the dirt.

In the past I did the necessary 500tons of painite to unlock an engineer. It was most boring.

New release and tools changed mining to something relaxing. It's nice to float around a ringsystem. Haven't seen many pirates either so it's just me alone and the rocks.

See I don't really care about the payout. It's why I didn't obsess over finding that sweet sweet VO hotspot.

I found a massive Alexandrite hotspot, said to myself "that's a nice find", and tomorrow I'll crack some rocks, and then fill my hold and find a good station to sell using the map.

Very fun.

Yeah, the gameplay it's self is fun, the payout is just a huge bonus.
Which is handy for me, because I won't do something in game for money, if it's boring.
So I've been relatively broke for some time. Lol

Mining is both fun and profitable, so now I'm a billionaire. :D

Last time making money was as much fun was Robigo smuggling.

I miss Robigo Smuggling. There was literally never a more appropriate time to fly an Onionhead Cobra.
