"Protect cargo" mission with no time limit or destination

So, I picked up a mission to protect a cargo of 19 tonnes of gold for 320,000 credits, only I realised after I took it that it's missing one or two details. I have a contact name, but no target system or timeframe.

I guess I'm not exactly going to be out of pocket on this one - I can always sell the gold - but is it likely that I'll ever see an NPC turn up on this one, or should I just abandon it and sell the cargo?

Just stick with it. You will, eventually, get an update telling you to take the cargo to a station - probably the original one - and turn it in. Then you'll get paid. An NPC will have important information for you; follow him.

Yep, you will get a Mission Updated message on your HUD with pertinent info added to the mission description in your Transactions tab.

Just don't log out for long and do RL stuff. Even with no time limit I came back to a failed mission after logging for a few hours (I think the original mission acceptance screen has a time on it just not one in the copy you carry with you).
