Engineers Proto Radiolic alloys spawn rate

Has the spawn rate or location of Proto Radiolic Alloys and Proto light Alloys changed? I'm looking for High Grade Emission Sources in Boom systems as recommended by Inara and various other guides, but all I'm finding is Proto Heat Radiators and proprietary composites, I've tried both independant and Federation systems with no success.

It also feels that the spawn rate of HGES has been lowered. I've only seen about 7 in over 3 hrs of searching (in fact the USS spawn rate in general feels less than before).

You don't want boom systems. Boom systems add the possibly of getting Protoheat Radiators which reduces your odds of getting the Proto-alloys. For the same reason you want to stick to independent systems otherwise you might also get Imperial Shielding and Core Dynamics Composites. High population systems are supposed to be better. I've actually found the HGE rate is increased while trawling shipping lanes; found more of them then Combat Aftermath which is what I was after.

If you're just after Protolight Alloys, RES pirates drop heaps of them.

Nice!

Hey metatheurgist, you ever seen Exquisite Focus Cristals as ship loot drop? Are they really exclusively mission rewards?

So which systems are the best places to look for Proto Radiolic Alloys? I don't want to waste any more time than necessary with this, especially as it sounds like all the guides are wrong (which fits with my experience yesterday).

Um, AFAIK Proto Rads don't show up outside Boom system (source). Go looking for them in any other state and you'll get 0.

When I need Proto Rads, I go to an Indi system in Boom state with a population of atleast a billion. Head into Deep Space and set up shop. It's one of the most poorly implemented G5 materials as it shares an inseparable spawn with the other 2 Protos, but that's inceptiongineers for you, RNG, within RNG, within RNG.

Might be a better way, but I haven't heard of any.

That's what I was doing: 1.4 billion pop. independant system in a Boom state (I also tried a Fed Boom system too for a while). Just getting Proto Heat Radiators though (out of the 8 HGEs I got to spawn I got 5 lots of Radiators, 2 lots of proprietary composites and 1 lot of core dynamics composites in the Fed system). Has anyone had any success getting them since 2.4 dropped?

I went looking for them a week ago. Took me about 1 - 1.5 hours to get 6 HGEs to spawn, first one had 4 seeds, 6th one had 5 seeds. Other 4 had the other types. It's all RNG. Best bet is to make sure the system is Indi, as you've found Fed systems throw Core Dynamic and Proprietary Comps into the mix, lowering your chances.
You're doign the right thing, just underestimating the obnoxious amount of time it takes to get Protos. Alternatively you could go to Dav's.

Honestly, I would have submitted a complaint about these G5 mats if I thought it would change anything; how an experienced game dev thought this system was ever going to work is utterly beyond me. RNG for a USS to show (going 10 minutes without seeing one isn't uncommon), RNG what kind of USS (there's what? 6 types in deep space, and HGE is the lowest chance), RNG what type of Proto it holds (1 in 3). I'm under the assumption someone ran out of time when designing these and thought "screw it, I'll just put all the protos on the same loot table in boom systems". Lockdown, Retreat, Investment, Expansion, Election, Famine - none of these states spawn G5 mats, and yet we have to wade through Proto RNG because someone seriously couldn't be bothered putting in an additional 15 minutes of effort to have each G5 spawn in a different state. Poor form.

Well I finally manged to find some of these. I eventually tried a lower population independant system ~10million, which gave me two mixed spawns of proto radiolic and light alloys out 3 attempts. Thanks for everyones advice.

Bunda (System right next to Shinrarta Dezrha. This is my goto place to get all 3 Proto's. HGE' are most found in 'Deep Space' but do check all USS as they appear within the 3 stations in Bunda.

30-45 mins max and i have 20 of each. (20 is my max amount per item)

PS. Bunda is Anarchy System, which i believe is the basis of finding these HGE's.

Was finding these pretty often in High Grade Emission USSes in a Boom state system last night. Not as common as Proto Light, but pretty close. Just fly about 10,000ls out from surrounding bodies and slow to a crawl and they'll pop up pretty frequently. If you're also looking for Ceramics, might as well drop into the Degraded that pop up too. Found those pretty frequently, as well as Chemical Manipulators so it wasn't a waste of time.

HGE are more common in deep space than shipping lanes.

As per the other poster to say this, I also believed that Anarchy-boom was the best combo for these.

BUNDA I say, BUNDA is your Proto Friend. It is Anarchy, and it is visited by some of ED's Naughty Boys, if you know what i mean, but jump in the system, and head away from the main star once you are a bit out the 'Naughty Boys' (If indeed they are there) will leave you alone. On Monday i spent 48 mins getting over 50 of each Proto Mats!

Hate to call hogwash on this but... Its hogwash. No one gets 50 + 50 in 48 minutes, no one. Especially rads. And there's nothing one can do to speed this up over someone else. It may have felt like less than an hour, or maybe it looked like 50. But no way. Video or it didn't happen!

One is lucky to get around 30 max in an hour, let alone 48 minutes, and that's if the RNG gods are happy.

Believe or not mate, that is not my concern. I don't do Vids as i use VR and any capture programs drags my VR experience down.

End of the day, i really don't care, i got what i wanted and what you get or care is of very little interest to me, but hey ho ho i had a luck night, bit like getting a god roll after only 1 or 2 rolls.........Incredible but credible and has been done.
I am not saying everyone who goes to Bunda is certain to get what i did that night, but then not everyone gets god rolls after a few rolls!!

Fly safe and if i see you in Bunda i'll give you an o7

I found that HGE spawn rate in 'Deep Space' has been significantly lowered.

Apparently now HGE's do spawn in shipping lanes, which wasn't usually the case before, so from zero to anything would be an "increase" for shipping lanes...

I find this shuffling needless and annoying - mainly, because the game itself gives you no way to find out where anything is.
(forcing random experimentation doesn't count, devs; unless you want to keep bleeding players...)
