Engineers Proto Radiolic Alloys

Anyone noticed a pattern to finding them, other than high grade emissions in boom systems? Want to do some lightweight multi-cannon mods which is all they're good for.

Found over a dozen high grade sources, but in federation boom systems I was finding proprietary composites and core dynamics composites, in independent boom systems nothing but proto heat radiators. Started varying economy types but no luck in high-tech, agriculture, extraction...

OMG, really? I've just spent 2 hrs for potato heat radiators and get nothing. If you want Radiolic alloys I recommend you try BUNDA, right next to founders world.

According to Inara "Signal Source (High grade emissions), Higher chance in Boom system states", also high grade emissions are more likely away from the shipping lanes so fly above or below the orbital plane.

Seem to remember seeing a few in Laksak and Kuk, because I spent a lot of time flying in those systems.

Will try there later thanks.

Could swear I'd been there, maybe not will have a look cheers. Of course they'll only appear when I don't need them.

Might have to settle for grade 4 mods but dirty drive enhanced thrusters bring out my inner weight weenie, every gram counts.

Thanks to metatheurgist's suggestion I found some in Kuk, and also in nearby Chaac, another alliance system in boom. Not many though. Out of 12 high grade emissions only 3 had them and the rest had proto heat radiators (I've grown to hate proto heat radiators).

Even the one's with proto radiolic alloys only had 2 in each of them, alongside proto light alloys, so getting a few stockpiled is a right pain. At least with say pharmaceutical isolators you can pretty much expect all high grade sources in independent outbreak systems to have them and you often get 5 at a time. No way to isolate particular systems that will just give you radiolic drops it seems. Least they're only used in one blueprint.

just found in high grade in anarchy boom system, in deep space (11000 distance)
unfortunately i am looking for proto heat radiators...

If memory serves... Anarchy + BOOM + High Grade Emissions can often = Proto "something"

(All forms of the Proto materials can spawn in a HGE drop - I believe there are (5) varieties of this material, all beginning with the word PROTO)

I wouldn't say that one system meeting these criteria is any better than another meeting those same criteria. You can use the "Filters" in the G-MAP to select for these and make it easier to locate them around your current position. I have found some really useful systems that way. :)

An old thread, but I felt it was worth adding to it since I recently found myself looking for Proto Radiolic Alloys too.

They are found in High Grade Emissions in Federation systems in Boom state. Don't waste your time with Imperial Systems - they spawn Imperial Shielding instead.

The best advice I have heard to find High Grade Emissions in any system is to fly 200LS above or below the orbital plane. Your 'region' should show you as being in 'Deep Space' (instead of 'Shipping Lane').

High Grade Emissions will spawn every 5-10 mins.

Not sure if system population makes a difference, but high population systems seem to spawn USS's at a higher rate.

do what nanite said, boom state, federation systems. Someone mentioned anarchy, I went through a dozen or so high grade emissions without any luck. Found radiolics about 1 in 3 or 4 high grades in fed system.

Majority of Proto-whatevers I've found, including Proto-Radiolic Alloys, have been from expanding clouds of debris that had previously been shooting at me.

Only Proto Light Alloys can be obtained via killing NPCs.

Only Boom state matters. In fact, it is not advisable to seek Proto mats in Federal\Imperial systems (see my signature for explanation)

Proto heat radiators and Proto radiolic alloys have been so numerous, that I'd think the NPCs would flock around them. (After shooting 1 NPC)

Just like a flock of birds congregating around a cloud of grasshoppers.

Shoot an NPC and get 3 or 4 of each. Most places I've been. And don't ask where. I don't remember. Go for a 100 or more LS jump to get to a particular activity or need and have to jump through a lot of systems.

So common, I think they must be useless.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

Found them (plus Proto Lights) in BV PHOENICIS, in the second High Grade I checked.
Small tip, when looking for material that are non-faction specific, try to pick an independent system, otherwise you will also find faction materials, making the search longer.

Edit:
3rd High Grade yielded another load of Radiolic and Proto Lights
