Provide In-game material and commodity rewards from CQC!

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

I've been playing a bit of Arena-former CQC - whateveritisnow and found it to be quite fun. That is, when there actually IS someone to play with...

I'm sure that, in the future, it will be an actual part of the game and we'll be able to access it directly from certain stations, maybe along with racing (which, given the current flight model, would be SO incredibly sweet!)

But the idea has come to mind that Arena's monetary rewards are... well, nice but a bit uninteresting in and of themselves. let's just say no one goes there to get rich...

I thought that perhaps, as a bonus for exceptional performance (most kills/assists/whatever), players could also randomly be awarded a voucher they could choose to turn in-game for either the monetary reward, or a number of a set material or crafting commodity.

I think it would tie CQC a bit more with the game. Also, new ways of acquiring engineer materials wouldn't hurt, I think.

So, what do you think?

Absolutely agree 100%.. Might make playing CQC a bit more engaging. I always felt that there was very little incentive to playing CQC, and it needed a bit of a boost. Once they actually connect it to the main game, (if they ever do), I think it will make everything so much better, and having in game rewards such as rare engineers mats/coms will give players even more reason to give CQC a go.

You know, actually, it could be related to Todd McQuinn, the multi-cannon engineer guy? Once you get enough rep with him, you can get engineer stuff because of whatever connections he's got?

better yet, once an engineer gets to stage 5, you get materials relevant to their own blueprints?

Never played Arena yet. Not even launched it. Lol

But, if each match had a prize in materials for each position you finish, it would make for better incentive to actually play.
All the materials are still available in game, but some of the more hard to get ones (Pharmaceutical Isolators, Exquisite Focus Crystals, etc), would make for excellent rewards to coming First, Second, or Third.

First place you could win 3 units of 3 different rarest materials.
Second place 3 units of 2 of the rarest materials.
Third place 3 units of the one of the rarest materials.
Random each match, but displayed before it begins.

Winning a commodity isn't really viable, because, where would it go?
Your main ship in game may not have a cargo hold. Lol
But materials can simply be applied to your account.

As long as it dose not force people to use Arena to get Minerals.

Of course it shouldn't. Last thing we need is an outside-of-the-game bottleneck for engineers progression hehe...

I think it should be a quick way to get good materials, but one that is offset by the fact that only the better performing players will ever get enything worth their time. It'd be a win-all or lose-all situation.

Well that's exactly because of that that I mentioned reward vouchers instead of directly throwing stuff at players.

You could redeem the voucher just ike you turn in a quest (and they already have the mechanics to give commodities/materials to players), so you'd have time to pick the ship you need etc. Ultimately, that's also why I think the winners should be able to decide wether they want a cash reward or the materials.

Good idea!

I do like this. It may, just may, get me to even try Arena. Lol
