Proximity voice

Hello,

I would like to know if the developers have planned to put the proximity voice on Odyssey?

I think it sucks to play with discord, it's less realistic and less RP.

Especially if there are more than three or four of us playing, we can't hear each other.

On SC or GTA RP it works very well and it's much more realistic.

We have HUBs in the stations but we can only communicate by text or with a maximum of four people, but in wing, I think it's a shame.

It is however a multiplayer game, they should encourage the exchange between players.

I really hope to see this soon.

Have a nice evening.

I would definitely like to see a proxy chat capability.
NPCs can talk around you, but CMDRs are all just the mute protagonist from an RPG.

Though @Ski'Thor is totally right, you'll always have "that guy".
And don't forget about the guy who just plays music over voice comms non-stop.

Yes indeed, afterwards, it is up to the community to be respectful.

I play rust a bit proximity voice would be great if it was added like in rust.

This would create interesting possibilities in social spaces - stations, megaships, fleet carriers. Currently people use Discord for operational comms e.g. when coordinating more than one wing. Having a social chat via Discord is something you really have to opt into, plus it's out of game and out of context, and in all likelihood, all audio, and likely only with allies. With visual emojis and the ability to congregate in-game, in no-fire spaces, OP's suggestion would really offer a different, less constrained, and I think much better experience that's totally immersed within the game (including, presumably, environmental effects on sound).

In my opinion the biggest concern is that voice is sort of user-generated content. One can easily find inappropriate uses for that. Take a look e.g. on FC and commander names - despite it is textual content (which is easy enough to curate), there are some precedents which should probably not be welcomed in the game with age restrictions.
