Let me start by saying I have the game on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
On the PC I have been playing this game since one of the Beta stages, cannot remember which but it's been a long time.
I have really enjoyed playing it on the PC and won't stop playing it on there.
I bought the game on the Xbox One because I have a few friends who play it on there, and was going to join them so I paid the early access fee to get the game cannot remember if it included Horizons or not though.
I initially was hoping for HOTAS support on the Xbox One which didn't come and I don't expect it to now, but I tried to play it with the controller and just couldn't get on with it.
Performance and graphically wise it was abit of a step down from the PC version but nothing really to major.
Then Frontier announced it for PS4, and HOTAS support and I instantly got it, got a USB Hub so I could plug in a keyboard for the Galaxy Map and also my X56 HOTAS only then to find out that you cannot use any HOTAS other than the one that Frontier have shown.
Launch day comes and I try my HOTAS just incase and it doesn't work, neither does any of the others that I have in the house so I downloaded War Thunder and they all worked so I was a little annoyed.
I thought ok let's actually try and play with the controller, fully not expecting to be able to play it due to the previous experience with the Xbox One version and low and behold I CAN PLAY WITH THE CONTROLLER!!! I was shocked and so happy at the same time.
Docking is another matter but thankfully the game has Docking Computers so issue sorted.
So I started playing it and working my way through some missions and I noticed a few performance issues in terms of frame drops and load times but I think to myself these will be resolved eventually, so I carry on playing and to be honest I can barely notice much difference between this and the pc version, it actually feels and looks better to me than the Xbox One version although this maybe subjective to me.
Honestly I am going to go back to the Xbox One version at some point and try that again now I am use to using the controller and try it and see what happens.
My opinion would be that if you enjoy playing it on the Xbox One then you might as well grab it on the PS4 and help your friend out if they have not played it before as you will enjoy it, but do it as a fresh start don't ask Frontier to move your save across if they can, and that way you can both enjoy the grind from nothing to something like I am currently enjoying since I didn't want to buy another copy of the game for the pc or loose everything I have already.
