Newcomer / Intro PS4 : How to use Heat sink launcher ?

Hello,
I am playing on PS4, and for the first time, I equipped my ship with a heat sink launcher, but how to use it ?
I mapped it to Weapon group 4 (alone)

Sooner I exited hyper-space near a star, and started to scan it from super cruise (min speed), but the heat sink launched alone, my ship was cold (-40° c/ 104° F) so all my heat sink launcher was empty after 30 seconds...

My question is how do we use this thing - is it automatic or did it need an action from us ?

you need to press the firebutton of the assigned firegroup.

do not map another utility to it (as yo want to trigger it seperately). you have to be in the right firegroup, too.

I think, somewhere deep in the control menus, you can find 'heat sink' and create a key press for it, such as X&O at the same time. I'd recommend testing it out before requiring it in combat.
