PS4 Keyboard Support

So, I'm about 40hrs deep into the game and I'm finally getting my head wrapped around the controls...but GD are some of the multi-buttons annoying. Take for instance the Circle+D-Pad Down which is how you deploy the landing gear. Circle on its own is your afterburner. So what do you think happens if you're a bit too quick on that circle while landing inside a big station? You go flying directly into a wall at tops speed instead of dropping your gear. Sometimes it seems to happen just because of lag.

So PS4 DOES allow developers to add keyboard control options for their games. It doesn't appear Frontier has exercised that option (yet).

If would be really helpful for those of us who have a USB/BlueTooth keyboard to have alternate mappings available on the keyboard. Even if it was just ONE mapping we couldn't edit (though it would be great if I could map my own controls). Being able to reach over and hit F1 to deploy my landing gear would be awesome.

Absolutely agree with this. I got excited when I thought of this, shame it's not in there. Fingers crossed it will get an update.

I see this complaint frequently, and I don't get it. I love the controller button layout. Granted I did switch some things around, but the boost button on circle has never bothered me. Tapping, and holding while pressing the dpad down arrow are so significantly different, but whatever. If you want to play with a keyboard, playing on a PC would be the better option. Reallocating developer resources to add this would be a waste when there are much better things they could be doing.

That is a very fine point, though everyone has their pet "wants" for the game that they feel would improve their experience in some way. I'm sure you're no different. Though I'll refrain from going into your post history to dredge something up...

If my suggestion is mentioned a lot by players, though, it stands to reason that it would potentially improve the experience for a sizable enough number of CMDRs to actually be "worth it".

Are there other features that I would rather the developer spend their finite resources on? Yes. Definitely. But who knows how hard or easy this actually would be - as stated - Sony does have integrated keyboard recognition and it can be used as a secondary input device for games. Perhaps its a ridiculously easy addition to the game. If that is the case, then it actually DOES make sense for them to add it (small time commitment with large payoff of player-base gratitude). If it is a huge time-suck and prevents the Thargoids from invading - okay, cool, no thanks. Priorities.
