I've had trouble using a hubs myself, headset was cutting out etc. There are some (bit expensive) designed for the PS4 rather than a generic hub (like the one I tried) that might be worth a shot, otherwise it might be time to upgrade to the pro.
I'm using a Kingwin seven port hub (with two additional charging ports) plugged into the back of the PS4 Pro. My HOTAS is plugged into that. It is a separately powered unit. My DS4 controller as well as a Steering wheel are plugged into the front.
I have read about people having trouble with hubs, but so far this one has worked.
I'm using a Dobe P4 Pro Hub on my PS4 Pro. Four USB2.0 and one USB3.0 (use it for USB flash drive) connections. T.Flight HOTAS 4, DS4 with Turtlebeach P4C headset/mic, Gear Head KB3800TPW wireless keyboard, Logitech G29 racing wheel all work great with no problems.
