PS4 Speculation - Starting System?

Hi all,

I am actually already looking for star systems to call home, I know, I know. Way too early, yes, and yes I am reading way too much stuff. :)

I am assuming (which is sometimes risky) that our PS4 starting systems will be the choice of the existing ones, either LHS 3447 (For the standard Sidewinder) or Asellus Primus (Horizons SRV Sidewinder). I could be totally wrong as we may just lose the choice of starting system with Horizons being the default and be put in Asellus Primus, Bakers Prospect. It doesn't seem such a bad place, High Tech which is always useful.

However, I do have a couple of home systems in mind if I can start in LHS 3447. As for Asellus Primus I am not to sure as I can't seem to access much on the surrounding systems. Exploring the map is quite difficult without the in game galaxy map and of course our little sideys won't have hardly any jump range. The alternative is will we get thrown in a random bubble system? That in a way appeals to me as we won't all be together at the start.

FDev hurry! :)

You can call any system home.

I personally picked Calhuacan for multiple reasons. It's on the border of the Federation and Empire. It's as close to LYR as possible while meeting the first criteria. It has 2 orbitals right next to each other. It has a very good and rare approach to the orbitals (two major bodies orbiting each other, each with an orbital station) - The two major orbital bodies orbiting each other means you can cook your approach and come in faster than you can with the more common system layout - you use both orbital bodies one after another to act as gravity breaks.

The two bodies in question are very close to the main star (394 ls).

It has the most long-term qualities of life I've found from any singular system. The only major downside is the gear loadout and ships available - but you don't want to be buying anything without the 15-20% discounts anyway (LYR, Alioth, a few others).

I searched for a long time all over the bubble, and Calhuacan is close to "the" perfect home system for long-term players. The two very close orbitals are also key for a large or complete fleet since you are capped.

And last but not least -

It's home to the infamous "Stapled Peacock Flesh" planet.

Sooooo many choices.... I haven't given much thought really on a home system. Probably taking some what of a Nomad approach... at first...
I suspect the first week/month I'll be wondering aimlessly trying to figure out the game. Going where ever the missions take me. Seeing the popular spots that people mention, Crashing on planets, making friends with Fuel Rats & Deep Recon X,. All the while, bookmarking the systems that I find interesting and may want to return to if it benefits me.

Home system doesnt impact the game experience apart from whats available there. And you can have as many home systems as you want. Its quite common to have ships dotted around the bubble as well as out at Colonia in some cases. Its whatever suits the individual player. And its easy to move your home system too.

Thanks for links, I have seen that map before and personally I don't find it too useful to be honest, its way too top level to be useful at a star system level. It is cool however.

I wish I could access the in-game galaxy map on my PC, that would be awesome (without buying ED on the PC of course lol).

I personally use Rakapila and area around Aulin as my "home" but started in LHS 3447. I'm out in the black right now but I can't wait to get home and fly my Vulture in the Rakapila 3 ring system. I need to see some Wanted ships burn.
