PS4 touchpad on PC?

I finally build a new PC (also for StarCitizen) and transferred my ED PS4 CMDR.

ED on PS4/5 could make use of all four corners of the controller's touchpad (want to stick to a controller, muscle memories). It is great way to get more button combinations and I need them all.

Does any one know how to make the four touchpad corners work on PC (steam)? Normal buttons no problem, but ingame it doesn't recognise the different corners...

I never found a way to make those work (am using a PS4 DualShock on a GeforceNow setup after the console migration). Windows seems to treat the DS as an Xbox controller whatever I do.

However, the Options button now gets treated as a normal useable button, so I found combinations using that to handle what I used to use the touchpad for.

If the functions are not on a Microsoft built controller they will not be supported on PC version.

You need a third party application that translates the extra HID functions to lame button numbers.
Due to Age of software and updates to OS wont recommend software as compliance with OSes is not insured any more.
Ds4 to xinput conversion apps did support adding the touch pad sections as extra buttons..

With real hotas supported on real PCs the upgrade to hotas can soon happen, where as geforce now is stuck with controller as hotas is blocked as its not supported on that system.

Thanks for the answers, that is very unfortunate. My controller setup heaviliy relies on using these four extra buttons (in combination with other buttons) :/

Thought finally I can jump back in again without too much hassle, and now another hurdle...

Just wanted to share an update, I got it working. Basically quite straight forward, but no one seems to know about that (at least I couldn't find anything online).

1. Start Steam and right click on Elite Dangerous in your library.
2. Go to Properties -> Controller and turn "Enable Steam Input" on (see https://u.cubeupload.com/Nerix/Screenshot2023091211.png)
3. Go back to step 1
4. Go to Manage -> Controller Layout
5. Search for "Original PS4 Layout with 4 clickable touchpad corners" in the community layouts (I have uploaded it).
5a. if you cannot find the layout, edit the trackpad settings according to this screenshot: https://u.cubeupload.com/Nerix/Screenshot2023090503.png
6. In ED you now can map the four touchpad corners (will show as 1-4 in the controlls editor).
