PS5, Game Repeatedly Freezing or Crashing.

I wonder if any other PS5 players are having the same issue? Every 4 or 5 jumps the game either freezes or crashes completely and displays a PS5 error message. When it crashes, it also occasionally corrupts the save file, which wipes any changes you have made to key bindings. Does this mean my ED career is now over (unless I have both PS4 & 5 set up)?

Ok I'm no expert but isn't that the reason it crashes, because you are playing a PS4 game on a PS5?

Almost all PS4 games are supposed to work on the PS5 (officially, there are 10 games that aren't compatible). The PS5 actually comes with 20 PS4 games you can download for free - including titles like: The Last of Us Remastered, Monster Hunter, God of War etc & all the ones I've tried work as though you were playing them on a PS4 Pro, just with faster loading times.

Update: I may have found the solution. During the PS5 set up, you have the option to automatically transfer all your PS4 games across to the new console, which I did.

Remembering that, I deleted ED and downloaded it again to the PS5. So far, I've done about 20 jumps, running goods for the Community goal, without an issue. That's far more than I managed yesterday without a freeze or crash.

Glad you solved it, probably worth Frontier advising a complete new download to the PS5 if they dont already.

How does it run though! GalMap opening times, loading, FPS etc etc?

All the PS4 games I've tried out so far seem sharper on the PS5 and have shorter load times.

ED specifically - The galaxy map opens pretty much instantly, there's no pause when you move along to the "bookmarks" tab. Coming out of jump seems much smoother - there's a deceleration, rather than a star port suddenly appearing just in front of you. I've also noticed that there is no slight pause as you approach planetary objects and the textures update. All in all, I'd have been disappointed if I'd had to go back to playing it on the PS4.

Thanks. Thats it, Im sold. Im gonna have to get the next gen....and the 2 games I know I want on it as well as ED. This one can go on the pile in the cupboard :)

It runs in 1080p , the console upscaling to 4K, which looks awful. The textures are also nowhere near Ultra on PC, so there's quite a lot of ugliness where there really shouldn't be.

In short 60FPS, less stuttering and quicker load times are the main updates. Resolution and textures are artificially hobbled because Frontier do not feel the need to put any dev time into the Console version of the game. Let them eat low-res Cake.
