Ps5 & Hotas

Is there any chance to have a working hotas at ps5 launch?

Something decent, not like the crap one manufactured by Thrustmaster that breaks after few weeks.

Frontier revenued 90 million on 2019, is there any chance they have an agreement with a manufacturer to have a proper hotas for consoles?

Seeing as the hotas released for PS4 had ZERO to do with ED release the answer will be ONLY if some one makes a PS5 exclusive flight game...
The HOTAS was only released on PS4 because the PS4 flight game was not on PS3 and they wanted a hotas that worked with out messing about... that game was war thunder not ED
The deal was then done and thrustmaster released the hotas 4 because of that title not ED
Hori only did the hotas deal because NAMCO released Ace combat 7... Not ED...
ED had been released on Xbox for ages but Xbox never got Hotas support untill Namco released Ace combat 7 and pushed for the hotas for the Ace Combat 7 game...

No hotas ever got made for Elite dangerous.. A publisher has to announce a PS5 flight game.. Fdev title was never big enough...

I'm pretty sure that's not up to FD, that's up to Sony to make PS5 support different hardware in the first place. If PS5 doesn't recognize X52 for example, there's nothing FD can do about it.

But I suspect that Sony would be interested in supporting only the peripherals which they can cash in on - the peripherals which need proprietary compatibility chip or some such. Like how HOTAS 4 costs more than HOTAS X just because of its PS4 compatibility, which is probably because of some certification and licensing fees Thrustmaster had to pay to Sony to make it work. But maybe PS5 will be better with its compatibility, who knows.

There was nothing to stop namco and logitech from releasing a X52 Ace combat 7 edition... Nothing realy but logitechs insistance that an insured profit magin be reached to avoid massive losses like happened on PS3 addons...
But Hori did the deal instead... logitech could have pushed a deal though but did not Hori and thurstmaster did ace combat 7 deals and they are the acecombat 7 builds that now sell...

I'm with OP - Frontier could, if they wanted, design and have manufactured a halfway decent HOTAS arrangement and have it exclusively licensed at Sony - why not? How many PS4 ED players are there with or who would wish to have a halfway decent HOTAS for the game. I'll put my hand up...anyone else?

Sure, it would be nice. But FD is a software developer, not a hardware developer. If you're being realistic, how much would it cost to design and produce such a peripheral, especially considering they never designed one before? Do they have access to a factory to make them? Would they sell enough of them afterwards to get their money back or turn a profit? I think it's easier for established companies like Logitech and Thrustmaster, or even Sony to produce a dedicated PS5 HOTAS.

I think the issue is that there are few new HOTAS coming out in general. The ones we have now are either getting old or are very expensive. Hopefully PS5 being a new system will urge those companies to make something new. Or maybe Sony will add support for the existing PC peripherals on PS5, as they finally seem to be moving towards a more pro-consumer policy.

As I said DESIGN AND HAVE MANUFACTURED as many developers do for their games when they get custom designed peripherals....

Even if they outsource it, they still have to pay production costs. So the question still remains: whether will they be able to sell enough of those sticks to make their money back or make a profit. You may be right and it may be a good move for FD, assuming there won't be much competition. I still think that hardware manufacturers like Thrustmaster and Logitech are in a better position to make a dedicated PS5 peripheral with less financial risk, and they are widely recognized brand names so they are likely to be supported by multiple games and will likely sell more of them than FD might.

War thunder has been shown to work with the t16000m and thats not a sony licensed hotas
As allready stated theres NOTHING to stop a developer doing a DEAL with ANY hotas maker for any game to support any USB device there just nothing in it for Fdev its to small a title on console. Yes it is...
Logitech could have done a deal with namco to get all there hotas supported with Ace combat 7... They did not... so Namco do not support there hotas on Ace combat7 on console...
War thunder did deals to support many USB devices and added USB support, war thunder support USB mouse usage and USB keyboard Key mapping it also support PS3 USB hotas as well as they have the USB drivers from the makers support...
Same applies to Driving games to support PS3 last gen steering wheels... Project cars developers pushed out this game with support for many PS3 steering wheels from many makers except logitech who directly blocked support... fanatec did not block support but did not help, there wheels worked by using third party coded versions...

Farm sim 2019 did deals to support thrustmaster steering wheels but in the driver package was the Hotas controller map... The Hotas does work on farm sim 2019 sort off but its not a flight game..
