Ps5 legacy or live servers now?

In 2022 Frontier stopped any new development for consoles - the galaxy was split into a "legacy" copy which consoles can access but receives no new software content, and a "live" version based on the newer graphics engine which is only available on PC.
If you just have a console you can only reach the legacy galaxy, which is completely independent of the live galaxy (no Thargoid War on legacy, for example). It's still perfectly playable, but the software will stay as it was in 2022.
If you have a PC capable of playing the game (or possibly a GeForceNow subscription like some of us ex-console Cmdrs) Frontier have a copy process where you can get your console commander and most of their assets copied to the live galaxy with a free copy of PC Horizons thrown in to allow you to run the game. Not all assets can be copied - Fleet Carrier for example, you'd need to sell that first and then the refunded credits would get copied - there's detailed threads on this process. You still keep your console commander on legacy after the copy process, so could play both.
