PSA: Anaconda Graveyard is broke, don't go there.

TLDR: The Anaconda graveyard POI at HD 76133 1c is broken and you're game will CTD on approach.

Long version: I decided to give my newly completed Krait Phantom exploration ship a quick shake down cruise. Heading over to the Anaconda graveyard, established by the distant stars expedition, on HD 76133 1C at 23.488 / 81.934 . Only to find out that my game would crash to the desktop whenever I tried entering glide on approach to the site.

Tried pretty much everything I could think of. Different modes, different angles, deliberately crashing into the drop zone. Even dropping out a thousand or so kilometers out and manually flying there. Nothing worked, and the closest I was able to get was 81 kilometers out before the game went crashing to the desktop yet again. The game must have placed a save spot too close on one of these crashes because I suddenly found the game crashing every time I tried to load in from the main menu.

Luckily I was able to load the non-horizons elite and recover to orbit. I did place a ticket into Frontier yesterday and am just waiting for a response with my ship parked in HD 76133 1's rings. I could always just self destruct and return home but, visiting the graveyard and paying respects is sort of the point. :(

So an update:

After around five days of back and forth with Frontier Support we can absolutely rule out my install or system being the problem. The issue feels to me like the Graveyard POI is conflicting with the pre-existing terrain and causing that particular wold chunk to not load. This explains why you can fly to the planet, fly around the planet, land on the planet and, as long as you don't enter the missing world chunk, nothing happens. But, as soon as you do, the game instantly crashes to the desktop.

Unfortunately this means that this is now a bug tracker issue and you know what that means. Yep, we now get to play the bug tracker popularity game. Sighs
I found a previously filed bug report and added my experience too it. We need around 9 more people to tap this issue before Frontier will even acknowledge that it exists.

If you'd like to help out here is a link to the Anaconda Graveyard Bug Report.

Huh, not sure when I'll get a chance to fly over so I can say "me too" with legit experience.

I'm not a fan of this voting system on the bug tracker. It limits you to only 4 bugs that you can vote on, doesn't make it easy to see which ones you've done so for, and then once they're acknowledged by FDev it doesn't automatically free your votes up again. I already have mine on several other exploration related issues too. Ugh.

Fdev have said many times that issues don't need to be voted on before they will look at them. Though how soon they will fix an issue with an 'off the beaten path' location is another thing.

I would, but signing in doesn't actually sign me in the tracker. :(
Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. The new bug tracker is as buggy as Elite. For over a month I had to use Firefox in Android because my desktop Firefox install would just not show a blank page.

To be fair, this particular bug doesn't sound like one that would be hard to fix. Move the location a bit to a suitable one, and done.
Good thing that you logged tickets with Support though, that ought to bump it up on the priority list a bit.

Isn't this the same kind of bug that happened with the Salome -> Exodus bases?
That was a missing object/texture definition file which caused a crash every time you got close to a site - if it's the same problem they should be able to fix it by including the missing file.

Ah you the fleet carrier I saw on the map up in that area then?
One of them - I think there were 4 or 5 visiting last weekend.

Ah nice. You have a Discord or anything I could chat with you on? I have an expedition scheduled to go up there as it's first leg at the release of Fleet Carriers and would appreciate any information or hiccups you found out about while up there, as wel as potentially partnering up if you were planning on doing it in live as well.
