[PSA][BUG] Be aware, when defecting...

...Because those nasty PowerPlay hitmen they send to interdict you, do not have FSD Interdictors fitted.

This means they will just try to cause you to crash in to something by flying around your in circles.

:p

I've reported the issue. I highly doubt it'll be fixed though. Watching them circle you is probably the most fun feature of PowerPlay right now. :ROFLMAO:

Issue is here - Powerplay NPCs have No Interdictors

This has been going on for years. In reality the hitmen should be G5 elite assassins but instead you get idiots flying clown cars. This is one reason why PP NPCs in general pose no challenge at all.
Yeah, they are a bit lame.

I usually defect on the last day of my "gaming week", so I don't actually play for 3 days. But I defected "mid week", so actually saw some.
And enjoyed the air show they gave me.

Not really. Defecting should be something you do that has massive repercussions- you are turning traitor. Your power should quite rightly want revenge.
You are nothing but a small fish and there are thousands like you us. You are not a high ranking officers or a high profile scientist that needs to be eliminated at all costs.
Do you really believe that The Soviet Union sent Spetznaz after every citizen that fled the country? In best case they put a bounty on your head and let local criminals do the job.

You're not from Salisbury, UK are you?

From a gameplay perspective, you punish disloyalty otherwise there is no downside to defecting which only makes module shoppers more prevalent.

You are not a high ranking officers

So what are the ranks for then?

In this situation that would be better as bounty hunters actually have decent ships that have interdictors. Sending an Eagle to dizzy me to death is not making me quake in fear at my defection.

Thinking about gameplay, there is no difference between defecting and just leaving right now. Defecting means I carry over merits, get a couple of days headstart on unlocking whichever module, so should come with at least some kind of penalty. A couple of drunk NPCs buzzing my ship in supercruise isn't it.

I'd find it funny if you had ATR level ships sent after you. Then you'd think twice......

Apologies, bad wording: you're not doing the job of a highly ranked officer, although you might be one. We have too many Supermen you see, but we're in dire need of bicycle repairmen. ;)

I completely agree that NPCs are laughable and not a challenge at all. But in this situation I'd expect them to gang up while trying to kill you, you are triple elite after all. I just don't find sending elite forces after a bicycle repairman realistic.

Edit: Sadly balance is for FD something connected with yoga.

The only benefit to defecting as far as module shoppers are concerned is being able to join the new power half a day earlier. The extra merits you bring with you will be worth nothing once week 4 rolls around.

While they may not be interdicting you, they will drop in when you low wake and do start shooting.

My hopelessly optimistic view on the reason why they don't fix or adjust anything with powerplay is that they are currently working on re-doing the whole thing and any effort into fiddling with it is a waste of resources.

This is true, but if we are to have a defect option which supposed to have consequences, lets actually have some. Worst I've come up against is a Cobra jumping in whilst I'm part way through killing a Corvette. It didn't last long.

So by your standards joining any of the available factions should be considered to be a life long commitment similar to joining a gang or cartel. The only difference is one does not "Jump" in as it's referred to but one can be killed if and when one wish's to "Jump" out. OK, what about Retiree's?

What is this “defection” of which you speak?

Surely you care about the politics, make a choice and stick with it for 200 weeks?

Rubbernuke is a filthy Fed and is totally KOS, but he’s right on the money here.
No consequences is one of the reasons this game is so shallow.
There is no way you should be able to be an Admiral King. Maybe you can have BEEN the other, but you should have to Abdicate to Rank up Fed.
