Regarding the recently discovered alien "Thargoid" sites that are presumed to be crashed motherships. They are not. You will have to read page one of the Canonn thread and go from there. OK?

Now... Why are they are not motherships? Here's my logic:
1: The seed of a barnacle, or the barnacle itself gets dropped onto a planet.
2: Inside this barnacle is an egg.
3: The barnacle is:
A: A Mining rig
B: A Von Neumann Probe
C: A Nursery
4: The barnacle has a set routine to build a base of operations. The main part is underground, being built from local materials.
5: As the materials are excavated, the ground will eventually give way and collapse. This is perhaps the rumblings we hear when we are at a barnacle site.
6: This reveals what we have recently found.
A: The site is divided into three sections. The inner core, The middle Giant organic pillars, And the outside teeth.
B: For a VNP, The core would be easier to build first, Followed by intensive construction of the internals, and finally the outer "Teeth" would resolve into the protective shell. They are the thinnest and fastest apart from the core to construct.
C: Among the first things to construct is one of those automatons. Their job is to:
1: Feed off the construct itself for refined organic material.
2: Produce Eggs. Basically, they are constructing the DNA of either the Thargoids or more of themselves, and growing it into egg sacs.
2a: They do this by mining the suitable materials. Organic matter, Technological matter and so. They then stockpile this, ready for use within the core.
2b: They then care for these egg sacs, dampening them, ensuring the correct humidity and chemical air supply. They also care for the local uplink, and report progress and status.
2c: They are basically producing either: More worker drones - or Thargoid crew. I would side with worker drones myself due to the scale of work involved.
7: Everything outside indicates a highly enriched material zone. The stalactites produce more meta alloys for construction, The Geysers are indicative of underground activity, and you can hear the deep noises reverberating from under the giant pillars. All is indicative of a vast construction site.
8: CONCLUSION:
A: They would seem to be spherical in nature if they progress to a conclusion of construction.
B: This would indicate a space borne nature (We have already seen the thermal reaction to the introduction of guardian tech. Engines?
C: I would hazard that they are actually space borne bases of some sort under construction. Awaiting their crew.
THOUGHTS AND POSSIBLE RESPONSE :
1: Von Neumann probes are one of the most lethal forces in existence. If you miss just one - they WILL come back en force. They will reconstruct again. And learn. The bases themselves are an artificial intelligence. And evolve.
2: Peaceful contact MUST be made before war begins in order to slow or stop this progress.
3: Nuke them from orbit - Its the only way to be sure!
4: Ah right. We don't have any. Uhhuh.
THINGS TO ACTUALLY DO TO TEST THIS HYPOTHESIS:
1: Check all gravity fields of homeworlds. If they are weak... Easy takeoff.
2: Check energy sources.
3: Check current and future construction phases for weak points.
4: Panic in general!
