Here's a copy of an email response concerning a wingmate's contribution to this CG:

Hey CMDR,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this.

I've had a look at your account and can see that what has happened is, even though you did originally mine the Bromellite, because you then sold it to a Fleet Carrier and then repurchased it, the game registers this as buying the Bromellite, not mining it.

This latest Community Goal is a mining community goal, which means your materials need to be mined in order to count. If you purchase these materials from a Fleet Carrier then it will not contribute.

I'm sorry that what you have done so far doesn't count towards the Community Goal, but I hope this clarifies the reasons as to why.

Please let us know if you have any additional queries or issues we can assist with as we're here to help.

Kind regards,

For whatever it's worth, this doesn't appear to have effected my performance. Our itinerary:
  • Jump carrier to a double bromellite hotspot loaded up about 3,000 tons
  • Jump carrier to Scylla and freight Bromellite to the CG drop-off in Eurybia.
  • Jump back to double bromellite hotspot and load another 3k-ish tons.
  • Jump back to Scylla.

I'm finishing out this CG with 5,145 tons collected (top ten CMDRs), and I'm inclined to believe I'm getting credit for the tonnage my wingmate sold to the carrier, but that I freighted to Eurybia. Not sure though as I didn't keep tonnage records and she was in a Python miner vs. my Cutter (so mined quite a bit less than i did). Either way, this is messed up. CG logic should support group efforts via carrier, not undermine it.

P.S. My wingmate couldn't care less about the missile launcher and was more than adequately compensated for the bromellite, so no feelings hurt here, I just though my fellow commanders should know the score.

Nice. This explains a lot.

Thought I was being smart ninja'ing some cheap Bromellite I found on a carrier in the middle of nowhere -- but it didn't end up adding to the contribution.
Now I know why! No harm done - it was a nice chunk of change.

As had been mentioned in the CG thread the process of selling to an FC renders the commodity as PURCHASED not MINED.

You can easily check this on Inara as mined commodities will have a value of zero, sold won't.

The only way to utilize a FC for this CG would be as the owner, and using the TRANSFER button to load/ unload.

Hope that clears it up somewhat as there's been a lot of confusion about this.

P.s. re: getting credit for mined goods your friend sold at your FC.

No, as stated above they would have lost their "mined" status when she sold them so even transferring them to your cargo wouldn't have allowed them contribute to your CG totals.

Edit: Typos

A likely story. We should hear from your wingmate instead. This sounds like a possible case of exploitation for your personal gain in this CG and as such could now be a ban-able offence. 😱

I'm curious about two slightly different scenarios:
  1. Another commander sells CG mined commodities to your carrier and you transfer them to your ship (not buy them) and sell to the CG.
  2. You mine commodities, store them on your carrier then take them off and donate them sell them at the CG.
I'm guessing #1 will not work but #2 may.

CG now finished.
As has been said in previous posts #2 worked as long as you used Transfer.

Can you even transfer stuff off your carrier that was sold to it? However the selling to the carrier would set the purchased flag.

what would happen if I mined a load, abandoned for the FC owner to collect and store, FC owner abandons my contribution, I collect and hand it in?
no purchases so all along mined goods should read as zero, would that work?

That would probably have worked, you will have to try it at the next mining CG.

Actually you could probably try it with a mining mission.

Hi :)

Was the CG at Eurybia. successful ?....if so is the missile rack available yet at the starport (Awyra Flirble) ?
Any information appreciated!

Jack :)
Yes.
Not yet, expected there tomorrow.
Tier 4 reached so 3 levels of discount on the materials cost of getting the missile racks from a Tech Broker due to start tomorrow for two weeks, after which they will go back to full cost.
