PSA: Don't take Massacre missions that target a certain profession

They should still count so long as they are affiliated with the target faction. I took a mission to kill x amount of technicians. There were only 2 at the settlement, a few scientists, a couple of workers etc.. Killed them all, mission complete \o/

That's not been my experience at all. I killed about 12 people before I realised they weren't counting towards the mission. I previously had a mission to kill "Citizens", turned out that security guards didn't count so I had to clear the same base twice.

This sounds a lot like previous ship based "massacre" missions. 1) sometimes targets would just not show up at all or EXTREMELY sparsely 2) sometimes marked mission targets would not count toward mission completion, or 3) target ships would be present, but not marked as targets and they wouldnt count toward completion. Sounds like similar logic.

This was going on in 2017-2018, possibly longer, then it seemed resolved by 2019ish. Its like some of that old logic was put back into on foot missions, or something.

I've had this with just the optional extra 'kill scavengers (0/x)'. Some when killed wouldn't add to the total, even after a delay. Eventually I'd killed enough so I presume there were more enemies than scavengers.

I've seen this too, although I have a feeling it's because more scavs were air-dropped in when i wasn't looking. I've seen hostiles drop in after I've cleared the required number as well.
