Because surely Commanders, you do not want your ships tainted with those meta-alloys, that traitors and thargoid collaborators from Cannon will try push on us in upcoming weeks "in name of science and to fix stuff UA messed up" and are secretly Thargoid doomsday devices, that will do all kinds of nasty stuff to your ships when they are integrated into our current technology and then are activated. You may as well just connect UA to your ship systems as well, if you so wish to be enslaved by Thargoids.

I see what Frontier did there, Felicity Farseer requires one unit of Meta-Alloys to work with you, no way that stuff comes in contact with my ship, did not put it in my ship before, will not now, when doomsday comes, I prefer to be clean and just mind my own business far from The Bubble watching the galaxy burn.
