PSA Make Sure You Don't Log Out On A Planet's Surface Before Odyssey

Something I don't think many of you have given much, if any, thought about regarding Odyssey. Because the planet's surface is getting a major overhaul. It would be advisable NOT to log out having landed on the surface. Planet-side stations should be ok, I am only talking about logging out while your ship is on the actual surface. So for you explorers out there wanting first footfall once the expansion is released fully, make sure you have logged out while your ship is in space and NOT on a planet.

I don't want to scare or panic anyone, but don't assume it'll be fine and nothing bad could happen.

From here to when Odyssey will deploy a lot of water still has to flow under bridges ;)
It's better to get this message out there now, early, than it would be to wait until the last minute and have people rushing and panicking.

But what could possibly happen?

If we get to have a beta test, this will be tested!

Plus, in the grand scheme of Odyssey, this will be one of the small issue compared to others believe me!
Good point. I will park a Cmdr now on a planet with a nice feature and then not move.
Hopefully they haven't taken the snapshot save yet for the beta.

Impossible, once they wipe the servers we will all be back in the starters systems, safely docked in sidewinder on a station.

Why would people be rushing and panicking??? Do you honestly think that when you log in you'll be stuck inside a mountain?
What about being logged in while in a HazRes? You could end up cocooned in an asteroid :D
Going out on a limb here, but my guess is that there will be 0% chance of something bad happening. I'll gladly eat my snuffle if I'm wrong.

But what could possibly happen? The planet is generated new, so your ships position will be generated new, too?
I don't think something bad would happen, at worst you fire up non-Horizons and return to orbit?
Well Horizons is currently not working well for many on PS4 & Xbox, so who knows what subterranean horrors could occur.

Unfortunately, running on our inferior tech, we have a much longer waiting time to find out...

😛

Anti-PSA Just dock on the nearest random FC to be safe

Seriously though yes according to the LS canyons may move and mountains may rise and fall....lot of tectonic activity predicted and who knows what the geography will look like afterwards. Im sure theres protection in place for the ship that was in a crater and is now half-way up an un-landable mountain or inside a glacier but can you really trust me and what Im sure of?
