PSA: No flyby's at landing zones

As it seems to be the case, people hasnt read the Fleetcomm PG rules when they joined.

RULE 3:
Restrict speed and stow hardpoints while within 2 kilometres (including altitude) of any published waypoint, landing zone, base camp, or any gathering of 4 or more ships.

I would like to point out the "restict speed" part. Landing zones are NOT the place for high speed fly-bys so dont do it.

That above really happened during DWE because one Cmdr wanted to do a "cool" fly-by:

So don't be that guy, do your fly-bys somewhere else than above other cmdrs ships.

Agreed - and if you *have* to do a high-speed flyby, please remember the laws of physics. Your ship isn't made of lightweight cotton (though its hull might be!) - and it obeys the laws of physics, boosting at the last second might not be enough to save you from a very hard meeting with the planet's surface.

On that same note, please don't shoot other ships with mining equipment either. I didn't remember the name of who was doing it, but someone was firing abrasion blasters at my unmanned ship while I was in the fighter. I don't think it was doing any shield damage, but I kept getting spammed with the "Ship under attack!" messages.

Hi guys,,
On DW 1, being as it was the first time really when so many Cmdrs met en masse at basecamps, the most important thing needed for that to happen was the trust between Cmdrs that their ships would be safe in that environment. That mindset of respect for the safety of others ships has been sadly lacking at every camp so far. Ships and fighters buzzing the LZ's extremely low and hot, trying to thread the " goalposts " at the Settlement flat out, bouncing off landed ships, shields on landed ships lighting up from contact, or the common light weapons fire. Ships feeling the need to wedge themselves into the fighter sized gap between landed ships, lighting up the shields of all concerned.
With the added distance involved with each passing waypoint it's not a case of how cool do I look buzzing the camp 10mtrs above the ships,,,,, because you don't !!.
The respect for the safety of those around you *should* be foremost, this really should go without saying,,, but apparently not.

Let's hope no one has to pay too high a price for this carelessness, though better described as recklessness from this point on.

Safe travels Cmdrs o7

Thanks for bringing this up. I've asked the Fleetcomm PG admins to tighten up on this. But they cant do anything if its occurring outside of the official PGs, or if no one reports it to them. So if it continues, please PM either Satsuma or Kancro Vantas (PC), Allcrowsareblack (PS4), or Xta80 (XBOX).

CMDRs risk being removed from the PGs if they damage or destroy another players ship due to reckless flying at meetups.

If you set up EDD correctly you don't need to know who shot you and could report him. Otherwise if you don't use EDD, It will still be in your journal.

I could say something along the lines of "4 pips to systems" and "if your shields are gank resistant, then errant hotrodders and inadvertant lithobreaking events wouldn't be an issue", but that would be slightly churlish of me.

Yea, you just know he was running paper thin shields. While he may be the type of player to cry if he was "ganked" in his flimsy ship, this is yet another great reason to sacrifice a few ly's for survivability instead of trying to have a jump range that is higher than your shields MJ's.

That " if your shields are gank resistant " is the thing here, a large percentage of the ships on this trip are not, and are pure exploration builds and are at the real risk of destruction from the errant hotrodders.
And Kamzel's post only a few above this too,,, jeez lol

It needs damaging or destruction to be removed? So what are the "WP behavior" rules for!?

Sometimes there's only so much you can do, in terms of shield toughness. I'm running a size-8 shield with a pair of boosters, but the shield is still only "meh", because it's a T9. ;)

People signed the rules of Fleetcomm when they applied. So you could expect them to be followed, else resulting in a ban. Simple as that.

If you did have a strong shield and said hotrodder was buzzing the area, just time it right and launch your shop into his path.....fly on a windscreen moment....he will learn a valuable lesson with at least a 5kly return trip. OFC im not condoning this, but some people only learn the hard way.

saying to a kid it will burn if you touch that flame sometimes isn't enough....

This must of been bought up because of the yellow sidewinder low buzzing the WP6 launch last night at high speed. Dont know the Cmdr name and wouldnt name and shame on here as its against the rules...you know who you are though...

Risking to sound immature but... Those shields lighting up are a beautiful sight! :D

Was that Henkka in the uniform?! :D

Just kidding, no offense meant and I do conform to the rules. Though some guys and me DID go for SRV jumping on each others' ships - with the exception of the unshielded one.
