PSA: There are HUNDREDS of systems with Fleet Carrier Admin Services. You don't have to go to one of the 13 FC vendors to install new services

As the title says.

It's a common misconception that the only place to add or remove Fleet Carrier services is at one of the 13 Fleet Carrier Vendor systems. But, there's actually hundreds of systems (391 in fact, according to eddb.io!) that offer what's called "Fleet Carrier Administration," which offers all the same services as the Vendor systems, apart from buying a fresh carrier outright.

With Update 11 about to drop, there's gonna be a lot of CMDRs looking to add the new stuff (myself included!), so I thought I'd remind y'all that you don't have to go to the big traffic jam sites to hire that new bartender. You can use inara's handy "Find Nearest" tool to locate one here.

Good PSA. I've had mine parked in Ratraii for the past couple of weeks now (since the date for update 11 was announced), waiting for this update. I'll be leaving the system as soon as I can to free up a slot.

Good PSA.

Although my carriers are fully outfitted since they were commissioned, so i dont expect to have to pay a visit to a Carrier Admin system today.

But isn't the point that new services are being added today? If you want to use the bartender or Vista Genomics for example you'd have to visit an FC admin system.

Not, if you already had the corresponding services installed in your FC

If i get it correctly:
  • if you had UC, you automatically get Vista Genomics
  • if you had the shipyard, you get the on-foot ship interface
  • I would assume that if you had the outfitting, you get Pioneer Supplies

I think that's only the case for the shipyard example, the others are distinct services. But we'll find out soon.

The shipyard is the only one NOT making sense (but will get clear soon enough i guess)

I mean, as a owner i already have access to the shipyard. But i dont have access to on-foot shipyard on my own carrier if i dont have the Module installed?
Or is this valid only for guests?

I get what you mean. 😄

But in the carrier menu, the shipyard access is one simple if-Statement. Making the Ad Astra store "owner-only" would require more work, ergo I think it's simply tied to having a (public) shipyard service installed.

Curious: What are the new services that are purchasable? (Is it just Vista genomics and pioneer?) How much are they, and how much a week upkeep are they (at work, can't play right now.)

Concourse Bar, Vista Genomics and Pioneer Supplies are new optional slots (as expected, those three had closed doors prior to update 11).

Concourse Bar install cost is 200m, active 1.75m/week, suspended 1.25/week. Uses 150 units of space.
Vista Genomics install cost is 150m, active 1.5m/week, suspended 0.7m/week. Uses 120 units of space.
Pioneer Supplies install cost is 250m, active 5m/week, suspended 1.5m/week. Uses 200 units if space.

Yea, pretty disappointed that my initial expectations prove to be nothing more than wishful thinking.
The upkeep costs seems to be quite big too... 8.25 millions on top of the 26.7 millions i already pay...

Better to plan for contingencies imo, if you had been right I'd have lost nothing & just departed the carrier admin system.

Looking forward to being able to have a bit more fun (ie risking on-foot rebuys) now that I can sell my salad recipes away from populated systems :)

Although right now I can't disembark...
(ETA disembark is now enabled, just had to wait a while (I relogged but that made no immediate difference).

However, the GalMap filter for Carrier Administration shows only six systems in the bubble's core area surrounding Alioth, so finding the other 385 may be a bit of a snipe hunt ;).

Yeah, I think the in-game filter for Carrier Admin systems has the same limitations as the ones for mat traders, tech brokers, interstellar factors, etc. It only displays systems you've already visited, and only in a 40ly radius. Hence why I just go straight to inara.
