PSA: This week's CGs have Decals as rewards for the victors

Thought this feature needed a bit more eyes on it since it's a long requested one by a lot of players. You can find the thread here.

Hello everyone,

We’re excited to announce that we are going to be implementing a new reward for participating in Community Goals this week: decals!

In this week’s upcoming Community Goals, commanders will be competitively pitted against one another, siding with one of the factions fighting for dominance over a specific system.

In similar fashion to previous Conflict Zone Community Goals, players will need to reach specific victory tiers to achieve victory for their chosen side. The losing side will walk away with credits and reputation (based on the tier they achieve), but the victors will seize the Conflict Zone Decal reward (in addition to credits and reputation based on the percentile each player reached.)

The contribution percentiles required to receive the decal (in this week’s Community Goal) are as follows:
  • Top 10% - Gold Decal, Credits and Reputation
  • Top 25% - Silver Decal, Credits and Reputation
  • Top 50% - Bronze Decal, Credits and Reputation
  • Top 75% - Standard Decal, Credits and Reputation
  • Below – Credits and Reputation
There are a couple more details to make you aware of:

While this week’s Community Goal is competitive in nature, with only the winning side unlocking the decal, other Community Goal types such as trade will unlock the decal for everyone (as long as they reach the percentiles above) as those are purely co-operative.

While we have given out specific decals for specific Community Goals before, this marks the start of a system that allows us to give them on a more regular basis. However, not every Community Goal will feature a decal reward, but it is something we can now reward players with, in certain Community Goals.

The Community Goal chosen to deliver a decal will be at Frontier’s discretion. We have many variants of decals for different community goal types, from trading to mining, combat and salvage.

It’s worth noting that these decals are not unique to this week’s Community Goal, and there will be more opportunities for Commanders to get their hands on them in future Conflict Zone-focused Community Goals! We are also seeking to implement more Community Goal-related decals as time goes on so that we can offer a wider variety and keep the rewards feeling fresh.

Decal rewards will also only be available as rewards for Frontier Community Goals and not player-submitted ones (this does not include decals from planned community events and community team arranged goals).

We hope that you like this addition to the community goals and have fun taking part.

If you have any questions relating to the addition of decals as community goal rewards, please put them in this thread and we will try to answer as many as we can.

Thanks and fly safe.

Community Goal Team

Comments by Steve Kirby on this feature:

Happy to bring this to you guys.
Regarding how often we will have a decal as a reward, we will be looking at the CG schedule and see where we can best fit these in.
At the moment we are thinking once a month to start with. This gives room for player CGs and other things.

We will be keeping an eye on it and seeing how we feel it works best.

We have put the unlocking of the Decals at above 75% contribution so that you guys have to make a decent contribution to the CG to get a decal.

If someone puts in the effort to submit enough Combat bonds to reach the 75% on both CGs then they will get a decal no matter who wins the CG.
For other CG types anyone who contributes up to the required precentile will receive a decal.

We do have a decal ready for Colonia based CGs as Will posted "We have many variants of decals for different community goal types."

The CG decals will be unique to CGs and will not use any decals available on the store. We will also not be putting any of the CG decals on the store.
These decals are intended to be a reward for taking part and doing well in the CGs.

For this week it is a Combat CG.
As Will posted "We have many variants of decals for different community goal types".
Pretty much all types are now covered and we are looking to add more decals in the future.

These decals will only be rewards on Frontier created CGs.

When a decal is unlocked you should also receive the ones for the Percentile below as well.
So if you unlock the gold one then you should also get silver, bronze and standard variants.

Nice. Too bad we can only fit 3 decals per ship.

We Need Service ribbons to Display on the ship. That way we could Show off all achievements. Since those decals are ment to Display an achievement they are kinda medals. And when you cannot Display your medal, you wear the corresponding ribbon.

Bump! since the 2 competitive CGs started. And a reminder that only the winner gets the decal rewards, although you can participate in both (over 75% to secure the lowest tier decal).

Sweet! I haven't played for about two weeks now because I was unable to think of something that motivated me enough to jump back in.

Starting tonight, I've got a goal to work towards!

Thanks FDev!

That's lame. Not going to be competitive at all then.

I can hear Reddit discussing and agreeing which side wins already.

Damn it, I'm 19000ly away as I gave up waiting for any new content, and was off to Beagle's point instead....

Well I had been enjoying going to back to The Witcher 3... now it looks like I might just have to put forth some effort again...it's been a while since I've hit the 117m bounty voucher mark in a CG. Now where's I park my Beluga?

I really like this. I will take part.

(one day Player submitted Decal designs?)

Maybe each year ED could have special event CG's (xmas for example) which offer unique ship skins or spoiler parts.

Is anyone else amused that the supposed "Controlling Faction" in this weeks CG isn't the actual controlling faction? I think the current controlling (also Fed aligned) faction must've taken control, via the BGS, sometime after the Devs coded this CG. I find it hilarious.

Even funnier, the current faction in control is also in a civil war with a fourth faction the system. So once again, we have a system where we have at least 4 factions slugging it out in CZs. [haha]

Interestingly, this seems to happen predominantly in Federation systems (from my experience)...

Oooh, a reason to have another go at a CG again?!

Dunno why they don't give away decals with every CG TBH.
Cobble together a bit of software that allows people to create decals, make it a free download from the Frontier Store and have it set up so finished decals are submitted to FDev and all the suitable ones are used as rewards in CGs.
Set the app' up so you can pick, say, 4 variables for a decal (superpower, activity, faction, other) and that'd mean submitted decals can automatically be sorted into appropriate categories for use and it'd minimise the need to "curate" submissions, beyond a quick check to ensure they weren't offensive or copyrighted material.

I bet they'd get enough decals in a week to provide rewards for a year of CGs.
