PSA: Threat 0 Signals Are Not What They Seem...

Dropped into a Degraded Emissions Source. Two pirates (Expert), playing as space junk, jumped me. They had silent running on, and looked like wreckage, at first. The art department did a good job.

Closed the cargo scoop and ran. They had missiles, and other fun things to play with. Managed to get out. Fortunately, I had just maxed my drives.

So, part of our new "personal narrative", besides collecting materials like crazy, is that the materials themselves are crazy, and want to kill you...

There's only so much risk I'm going to take, for engineering my ships. If they really, really want us to suffer for the new materials, they have succeeded.

I *did* re-mount my KWS, since this mornings update, but if I had stopped to use it, I would be materials myself.

I like that the Threat Level can be manipulated by criminals, to create a trap. This is exactly they kind of thing that could make USSs more interesting.

I gotta say...happy days...this actually sounds like pure class, cant wait to try that out later. Thanks op, thats a little bit of good news not bad news ^

I didn't say it wasn't a genius idea. It is. If you like surprise encounters, this works.

It just sucks when you are the victim. :(

Now, you know. At the fist sign of them maneuvering, collection time is over. Start running, because they run in groups against me.

That is brilliant actually.. if scary! Another thing to keep an eye on out there in the black! I picked up a canister and it exploded before it came into the cargo scoop. Strange..

Ah, something else new. Thanks!

Sounds like a well laid ambush.

I approve.

Haha this is amazing! Love that there's more variety now. I jumped into a Threat Zero to scoop up some junk, only to find a bunch of ships jump in after and fight over what was "their haul." Barely made it out with my Asp. Nice work!

That's the other scenario. They wait for you to drop in, and follow your wake. Has happened to me twice.

Good thing most of my engineering is done. I have a T6, and Sidney the Sidewinder to polish up.

This actually isn't new. I've had quite a few of theses way back when the threat levels were first added in. But they kinda disappeared with 2.4. Or at least I stopped seeing them. Biggest threat I saw in this situation back then were wings of 6 Vultures. Glad to hear these are back. The little things, y'know

Oh, they are back, all right. Nothing on radar, until they started moving.

Poor Edsel. Why do they have to be so mean to Cobra 4's? :(

I was just mucking about in my Eagle, trying to collect materials (trying, and mostly bumping them around!), when I spottee a Distress Call, Threat 2.

Figured I'd take a look.

Slow down.

Drop in.

6 pirates. All wanting my cargo.

I DO NOT HAVE A CARGO RACK YOU IDIOTS!

They then proceeded to open fire. And security showed up, and then they tried to run. One got away, and we killed the rest. (Not bad for an unengineered Eagle!)

And I had a wake scanner, so I chased the escapee down to the next system, all very RP like, to finish him off.

Well. Eff. You. Elite. Lol

Try to make material gathering fun, and they cut me off.

"No, Cosmic, grind it. Don't enjoy it! You must suffer!"

Grrr.

Lol

Yup. Scanning for mission canister - then two Elite Cobras appear out of SuperCruise, right on my six, and proceed to turn my ASP into a colander with a soft top (removed) for a canopy. By the time I had attempted to BOOST away I think I had a conga line of missiles heading for what was left of my tailpipe! Took me over an hour to recoup my losses!

I got jumped by at least 8 ships in a Black Box recovery mission USS last night.

Getting jumped with these isn't new but the number and immediate aggression of the ships nearly caught me out this time.
Escaped with 34% hull.
