Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any idea on when there may be PSVR support for the PS4. I know there is a lot of complaints about "But it looks horribly! PSVR is crappy!" I don't want to get a bunch of replies to that effect. If anyone has heard of actual news about PSVR actually being used on Elite, I'd like to hear it though.

Don’t think it’s going to happen. You can’t release a vr game for ps4pro only per Sony’s rules. And it’s going to need at least a ps4 pro to run this. Just google the reddit ama with David Braben, I think they looked at it and it wasn’t able to deliver a consistent experience. I’ve tried the PSVR headset with a pc, and while the performance is ok with my pc. The text readability was an issue for me, and elite is a fairly text heavy game.
It wasn’t a wasted experience though, it convinced me to get a VR headset for my pc.
I havnt read anything concrete about PSVR support but if you happen to have a gaming comp you can have a look at Trinus PSVR which will let you use your PSVR headset to play Elite Dangerous in VR on a PC.

Specs wise the PSVR is close to a DK2 which is good enough to play Elite, i did it for hundreds of hours before the Vive was released.

I own a PS4 Pro and a PSVR, and I tried Trinus, it worked ok, and was really fun to play - but in my case, the text was a little bit blurry on the screen - I don't believe there is a way to control super-sampling in Trinus (I have not used it in a while so they might have added it) and I did not tweak any of the internal elite SS/HMD stuff either.
Maybe tweaking that would help?
You might experience tracking and drifting issues though with this, because with Trinus, you will be relying on the gyro of the headset for tracking, and that was not the greatest
All that being said, for me, it was not a wasted experience, it showed me how much fun Elite in VR really is, and convinced me to make the jump to a PC headset (ended up going with the Pimax 4k BE)
They could do settings for a pro and standard PS4 though surely? A few less bells and whistles version for standard PS4 and a higher settings version for the pro.
Besides all that, I think the main issue isn't whether they can do it, rather it's whether it is financially viable to do it.

Knowing performance on pc I think you would be looking at vr low on PS4 pro tho and wireframe on vanilla
I am joking on the latter but I just don't think a vanilla PS4 could do it in any usable form.

And with a 960x1080 per eye resolution, i found that reading the text the game throws at you was a problem for me.. even after setting text to green.

green wont help with the psvr.. one of the advantages of the psvr hmd is it is a proper RGB display, so all the pixels are full sized and same in number, unlike the pentile display in rift and vive.
