General Gameplay Pterosaur Fossils Don't Use Avian Fossil Graphic?

This is a bit of a nitpick but, why do Pteranodon fossils use the graphic from small herbivores and carnivores and not the avian fossil graphic?
latest

I was under the assumption that the graphic for those sellable fossils were going to be used for them but, maybe its something that can be patched in later? 😕

I'm rather surprised that they haven’t used the Pteranodon fossil above the entrance to the Innovation Center as the fossil graphic.

I'm sorry. I meant they didn't use the avian fossil graphic (which vaguely enough resembles the pteros) to represent the "flying lizards" lol
And my point is that it really doesn't resemble pterosaurs at all. Completely different structure. There is very little similarity.
They also aren't lizards. Though you probably didn't mean that literally.

There is enough confusion among the general public as to what pterosaurs are, which is why I'm making a fuss about it. We don't need to add to the confusion. Pterosaurs should be labeled and depicted as such. So they should have their own unique icon since they are a completely separate group.

Considering how vague and open ended the fossil graphics are used for each grouping of dinosaur types in the game (in terms of using the assets available and not necessarily for 100% accuracy), it would at least make sense for them to use the existing Avian Fossil graphic (since they have it) instead of the small dino fossil graphic or the completely making a new one from scratch.

As for why I wouldn't be for making a completely new fossil graphic, think of it this way, had I not pointed this out (or if they simply recycled their existing fossil graphics more wisely), this discussion probably wouldn't have even crossed anyone's mind.

It's more of a matter of a simple fix via switching out either two DDS, TIF, or PNG files. It shouldn't be too hard for them to pull off in a patch.

No it wouldn't make sense. You're replacing one wrong icon with another wrong icon. You might as well replace it with one of the croc fossil icons. That at least is closer in relation.

And yes, other icons are also wrong and should also be changed. But they aren't as big offenders as the pteranodon fossil. The other worst is probably the ornithomimids having the same icon as the the other small carnivores. But those are all still theropod dinosaurs, so the difference isn't as big.

And besides, the bird fossil icon is already taken by non-incubatable fossils. It would only confuse things even more, and thus it's not a suitable solution.

While I do find your "croc fossil" analogy funny, the Baryonyx uses the small dinosaur fossil 😅

I don't see how the Baryonyx in particular is relevant. Like the Spinosaurus and Suchomimus it would be nice if there was a generic Spinosaurid fossil icon. But it's not as big a deal since Spinosaurids are all dinosaurs, and they all already have dinosaur icons.
Pterosaurs are not birds, or dinosaurs. Either icon would be just as ill fitting. There should be a pterosaur fossil icon if you want this fixed as changing it to a bird doesn't improve anything.

I mean...one has a beak and wingspan...the others...don't? 😗

While I get the concern, from a purely cosmetic and visual point of view, they honestly could have did away with the Avian Fossil altogether and just used the graphic for the Pterosaur. I've come to terms with the fact that they're not going to make fossil icons for every single dino in the game and something as simple as using the beaked/winged fossil image would have been a small detail that honestly was a blink and you'll miss it change that they honestly should have done in the first place.
Again, had I not even pointed this out and they had just did what I suggested in the first place, chances are you and I wouldn't have even said anything about it; again adding to how pointless this debate even is since its just addressing something from a purely visual stance.

And that exactly is the problem.

Do not presume what I would or would not have done.

On the one hand you're saying it should be changed to a different incorrect icon (that won't improve anything and just reinforce stereotypes) and on the other hand you say it doesn't matter. That does not make any sense.
I'm saying, if it's to be changed, change it for the better into a correct icon.
