Public Service Announcement - Scanner missions against +++sec settlements are now doable

Specifically those with air support - and by doable I mean it's now possible to complete the mission without just sacrificing your SRV.

The thing that has changed is that now the trespass zone is different for your ship vs your SRV. So you no longer have to run a 3k gauntlet of aerial attack before reaching the thing you have to scan, the SRV trespass zone is much smaller, typically just around the core of the surface installation itself.

In fact those installations with air support are now the most fun! The ones without air assets you can do in your sleep, just land, drive up and scan then drive for about 10 seconds and you are out of range of the static guns.

But for the ones with ships, as soon as you scan your target your SRV gets pounded from above relentlessly (if not very accurately) and you have to drive as fast as you can out from the settlement until you can recall your ship (the ship trespass zone is big enough that your ship leaves long before you get to your target) - cue a mad dash out from the settlement trying to keep the SRV in a straight line while frantically checking whether you are far enough away to call your ship back.

Also, and I'm sure this too has changed since I last tried these missions, when you do recall your ship it doesn't get fired upon until you are actually back in it, giving you the chance to escape without your ship getting mangled before you get anywhere near it.

I'm sure this isn't news to a lot of people but I follow these forums pretty closely and I certainly missed the memo so I'm assuming there are others out there in the same boat.

On top of that they are fairly lucrative missions you can complete in any ship that carries an SRV.

This doesnt fit with my (admittedly limited) experience of this... when i approached the station it the trespass zone was extending out for km from the actual buildings - was a secturity 3 (+++) prison colony and as soon i got the bounty for daring to approach i got warning that my shieldless explorers hull was getting demolished. Had parked pretty much just outside of the zone though so maybe...

Yet still each and every one of them are "illegal" -and welcome to our C&P system right?

I could comprehend some of them being illegal, you know, the ones where you'd be literally hacking another faction's system
But, to perform a scan to help a faction repair etc its own and that be illegal is _____________
No thanks.

It would be like engaging fishing in ESO or RDR2 and being tagged with some illegal horse manure. Social programming anyone?

Someone stated elsewhere and I thought it apt- ED is or has become a space prison sim. Almost everything you do is one glance away from fines and illegal consequences.

The game could soon be titled, Elite military/ police state
