Pucker time!!!

So I am coming in with my Lakon loaded with fish (Hey, got start somewhere right?) and halfway to the landing pad my screen changes to the desktop, BUT I am still hearing gaming sounds!!!

Since I have not tried "hot-parking" my Lakon yet, I was not moving much faster than 40, so I simply did a quick click on the Elite icon in the taskbar and back comes the screen.

For all of 1 second and,,,,,,,,, back to the desktop again!!!

Now I am in full panic mode since the docking radar had just popped up,,,,:eek:

With my cheeks clenching tight enough to snap a 1/2" (or 13mm if you prefer) bolt in 2 I slam back the throttle and move the mouse hurriedly over the Elite Icon and click,,,,,,,,,

I was so close to the floor I barely (and very gingerly I might add) gave downward thrust and was rewarded with "Docking successful, cheeks can now be unclenched,,,, err,, I mean engines disengaged".

I think that's enough gaming in Elite for one day....... :p

There has to be some excitement! ;)

It may be you pressed the Windows key by mistake.

One of the few merits of some ‘gaming keyboards’ is the switch that electrically disables the Windows key while playing games. I have a Logitech G15 myself, which has survived about six years of punishment. I hate the feel (>99% of my keystrokes are work, not play), but it does have some nice features for games.

Alternatively, and this is probably better, there are software tools to disable the key temporarily.

I've found my game occasionally and pretty randomly switches back to Windows of it's own accord, and once while in a space station. Although it's never done it twice in a row like that.

I'm just wondering - If you crashed and died because of something like this, and you quit the game without using the 'save and exit' option, would you go back to where you were before? or is there some kind of autosave?

Don't have Elite, but I experience "minimize to desktop" in other games. Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim are notorious. Skyrim is unplayable now (it didn't use to be this bad), and FONV only acts like this if I have something showing on my secondary monitor. Earlier I had this also in Arma, but back then I somehow fixed it by removing a couple of desktop apps.

I'm thinking it has to be with focus changing, although pinpointing what causes a focus change can be problematic.
