Ships Pulse lasers for FDL

Where do you guys purchase your higher class and level pulses for the FDL? just bought mine and only found low level pulses around the 48K price mark and 500K beams... which do a tonne of damage but heat up quickly.

I've tried a lot of FDL loadouts in the Beta, the class 4PA is huge fun if you hit an unsuspecting Sidey or Eagle but once they start maneuvering it's extremely difficult to land a second hit, same for the class 4 cannon so unless you're going to hunt big ships they're not great as general purpose weapons.

With a 6A PD delivering 50 MJ energy to weapons this equates to around 3 MW of weapon power, you can draw more power but the weapon cap will drain much quicker this limits the weapon fit to either pulse or beam and kinetic, the biggest laser weapons on the FDL will 4 x class 2 and 1 x class 3 (no class 4 in game ATM)

FDL beam/kinetic, great fun but ammo limitations will mean regular returns to a station for rearming, small beams to keep mass down and reduce overheating issues.

FDL all pulse, what I'm currently flying, you could add a class 3 pulse on the belly mount, but as it's not going to fire all the time due to it's location it's just additional mass you can do without.

Better shields, thrusters or SCB's you'll need a 5A power plant and you'll soon run into power/heat issues, perhaps a missile rack in the belly mount is worth a try although it takes 2 rounds to kill an unshielded Sidey.

The new FAS in the next update is a ship with a lot more loadout options but it's not that fast (boosts well though) and the shields aren't fantastic but it's fun to fly with minimal power issues, I do like the FDL it's huge fun to fly and sounds crazy but it's a frustrating ship in some respects.

Where did you do most of your outfitting? I already have highest power plant just need to do the weapons now!

I've no problem getting 5A power plants and the like (I did have one fitted) it's because there's little point having a 5 mil plant when a 0.5 mil will do the job, the weapon power limitations are determined by the power dist anyways so if I'm not fitting bigger thrusters, shields or SCB's why not save the money for my next ship ;)

Four medium gimballed pulse lasers is all I would equip on a FDL. The bottom hardpoint is all but useless in a fight. It rarely gets a clear shot, and even then the slow projectiles often miss even larger targets.

I mounted rail class 2 on huge hardpoint. Rest are med. pulses. So far, this setup worked best for me.

That's why I have a class 4 gimballed cannon on the bottom. I just use it against big targets with shields down when I happen to be close enough that the shot can't possibly miss. Or when a ship tries to flee in a straight line. It's a nice damage boost in some situations.

This. I do the same thing.
I tried the class 4 PA but I couldn't get the same value out of it as I could with the gimballed cannon.

I did the same at first, but then I discovered that it was too much trouble to line up that one cannon shot during combat, and that I was far better off just firin' ma lazors :D

I have to agree I think I might strip the weapon off in favour of shield boosting or chaff!
