Pulse wave scanner and planet surfaces

One of the Q4 things that got pushed (and something I was looking forward to) was the enhanced planetary surfaces (for icy worlds anyway).

Features that fitted better with coming features.

I hate the whining posts that are “but what about advertised Kickstarter feature XXX”

pulse wave scanners that can penetrate asteroids, prospecting limpets showing where to blast surfaces.

Surely by design can also be used for planetary surface mining?

No, I had no aspirations in trying to convince people planetary mining in 3.3, But the question is will it land in the next “season” of expansions or a unknown future season.

I quite like the set up of “this is the dev - goal” for the year what does the community think.

It’s not a 26KLy from what we had before but instead of Season.Version being advertised and delivered and the only feedback we had was a beta, we instead have concept art and active design discussions months before a beta.

So when we get the “but what about ..[insert feature] aka Planetarty mining ... ”

It feels like the 2019 season, you know beyond, ahem, beyond, Might be in a good position to introduce such an activity was more of the angle I was aiming for.

Yes, one of the goals of Beyond seems to be improving the tech and features for future updates. We have absolutely no idea what are they planning for 2019, though. Literally two or three words on the stream. My biggest wish are the promised re-worked ice bodies. They are probably going to continue expanding on squadrons. But that's all I know.
The problem with planetary mining is that although we now technically have the tools, I don't think the planet generating system can do destructible and deformable surface in its current state. That COULD come with the new ice planets, though, because if they're planning to bring it at least close to the artwork they've shown, a heapload of things will have to be changed.

That's one of the reasons I'm kind of afraid 2019 will be... slow. Like player-owned carriers in summer and ice planets in december slow. We'll see.

But the pulse wave scanner can’t be used to find the rocky, mesorite outcrops? I’ve been meaning to try but outside of killing existing gaming mechanics, and adding a bunch new dev time, assets etc;
theoretically if it works out in an asteroid field why wouldn’t work like an improvement of the standard wave scanner?
