Pulse wave scanner strange behavior

Have pulse wave scanners been altered in the past 3 weeks? I am getting strange results now. Rocks glow for one ping then go dark, angle of view makes no difference. Rocks only start to glow as you pass very close to them 150m or less. Spent 45 min last night and located 2 mother loads only one was of the "hot spot" type has to be my worst run ever. I doubt my rings have been mined out as I am a few hundred Ly outside the bubble.

They sadly are broken right now and its quite infuriating when considering that nothing comes close to mining payout. Currently, they basically scan in the opposite direction, kind of. Try external camera and look behind you when scanning...

I did reverski-scanning for a while but its too cumbersome.

Edit: Imperial Clipper in my case, tried A and B PWS, also fiddled around with the graphics settings for quite a while, no difference whatsoever, seems to be the module.

Thank you for the info, looks like I will have to find a different way to make credits to pay my weekly fine for operating a FC

Thanks fot the tip Borko.
I will check neighboring systems and see if there are any with the appropriate ring type for painite.
You’re welcome. And if you’d like to simplify your search for an appropriate spot to kill rocks, use eddb.io. The ‘bodies’ section can lead you to pristine metallic rings. From there, take your discovery scanner, shoot the ring, and watch the hotspots come out. Ka-ching.

Me thinks anything mining is broken atm. I spent 2 hours and 288 limpets in a dual overlapping Painite hotspot and have exactly 0 painite in cargo to show for the effort.

Sorry it’s not working for you, Giz. The night before past I pulled in 200 tons in a little more than an hour. Not sure what else to tell you.

Wait, you were in a metallic ring, right? Not metal-rich? Painite laser mining doesn’t work in metal-rich; it only shows up in cores, hotspot or not. In metallic ring hotspots painite shows up in regular laser-able rocks.

Will have to check, I think it was metallic ring. Not the end of the world I still made lots of credits on other materials, just not what I had been planning to mine. Will use the tool you mentioned and find a pristine ring near my sell point. Also switched my outfit so I can do laser and core, might not be optimal for either but should work well enough to pay the crew.

Wing trade missions can easily exceed mining payouts if you choose the right neighborhood and are well allied.

Has the pulse scanner been fixed? I noticed when starting the game the planet loading was slow, that usually means a patch or update has taken place. So I went out pulsing and it seemed more rocks were glowing but the ones needed were still scarce.
