Punish/Prevent noob killers

I hate how newbie killing is a thing. It drives new players away, and ultimately the entire game suffers as a result.

1) Can we make targeted newbie killing against the rules?
2) If someone is considered a newbie (based on time/rank, etc.) and around the starting area, and they get killed by a player, can we provide some special messaging? The messaging could be some helpful hints, links, etc to help them learn (including info about the game modes in case they glossed over that)
3) If someone newbie kills, they should be warned. If they continue, I propose they get ATR gank squads full of sidewinders attacking them which follow them for a while until they are killed. Chat spams of "GIT GUD" are optional. :) If this is ridiculous (I admit, it is kinda), some other suitable punishment for potentially ruining new blood into the game would be good.

I know it's Elite "Dangerous" and all that... but new players need a chance to "git gud" without retreating to solo. Without new players, this game will suffer.

That's what The big C&P argument is about at the moment, it's designed to make such behaviour...undesirable.

How do you handle people in Anacondas with Mostly Harmless rank then?

Oh that's right, rank means nothing in this game.

I'm Elite in Exploration, Tycoon in Trade. Combat Rank? Harmless. Number of kills: Zero. I can afford several Anacondas.

Same here, Elite exploration, tycoon trading, harmless combat, but I have no interest in a conda, just not something I aspire to.

One of the issues with spawncampers, or sealclubbers is that when they come up against a real threat they combat log (end task on the game) to avoid ship loss.

It's the primary reason why I'm in favour of removing the benefit of Combat Logging:

Or you can just make murder and similar actions a very heavily punished offense in the in-game laws, so that only those who intend on killing anyway will not be affected. (say you wanna roleplay as some crazed in-game version of a serial killer or what have you.) That way it will make sure that if one wants to be an in-game killer or criminal, they have to actually commit and accept all that entails with being a....CRIMINAL

In the initial C&P discussion prior to 3.0 I suggested that CMDR murder needs to be heavily punished, not 10k or 50k or something insignificant but make it 50m or 100m, I don't know.
In all systems with a law.

Within anarchy you should still be allowed to kill without receiving a bounty hence in anarchy systems all the PvP pros could still meet to have their combat.

I have not killed any CMDR so far (was killed twice myself) but at least in PvE bounties are still ridiculously low. Yes, I now need to wait to get notoriety down to zero before I can clean my ship again but the amount of credits issued for a kill is a joke still.

Which imho is ok for PvE murder as some tasks like undermining in powerplay require hundreds of kills in a row and you don't wanna get bankrupt - a (total) bounty of a few millions is still easily affordable.
However killing unsolicited other CMDRs would deserve more severe punishment. Galactic wanted status, bounty can't be paid, only being killed removes the bounty.
Whatever - was discussed in extenso already.

I agree with that newbie murder should be prosecuted in a special manner however rank (alone) is not a reliable criteria.
I run an alternative CMDR with an Anaconda and he is mostly harmless.

The final question is - how can you allow honourable PvP combat and prevent ganking from defenceless victims.

But... but... BUT WHY?! ;)

I'm not saying you should get one, but it really is a versatile ship. If only it would be a bit more jumpy in supercruise and it would be ideal.

I agree.
Just make the Conda as maneouvrable as a FDL, give it 2 (additional) size 8 cargo slots and maybe a second size 4 weapon hardpoint, I believe 8 hardpoints are not enough.
Maybe protect the powerplant a little bit better...?
;)

Add pvp flag on/off. Problem solved. Players are immune to other player damage (ram, weapons, etc.) unless they both are pvp enabled. And remove the crap C&P, ty vm. You already have some sort of player ignore mechanics. I can't jump with SRV on top of other player landed ship. Doh!
