Please add purchasable mining drones to the game that automates mining. Mining should be automatic once you track down an asteroid you want to mine. The necessity of sitting there manually firing the laser, breaking off a rock chip, manually flying your ship to collect each chip, toggle over to manually refine, manually reposition and repeat gets old really fast. I switched to this game from EVE, and I tried mining for the first time last night and found it to be extremely tedious. All that manual, time consuming tediousness adds nothing to the game. There are a variety of ways to make mining a way to relax in the game. Someone already suggested a tractor beam to pull in the rock chips, that would be an improvement, but you would still have to sit there and manually fire the mining laser and manually operate the tractor beam and manually operate the refinery over and over and over and over. The who process needs to be automatic in my opinion or I doubt there will be much mining in this game.

No, of course it isn't game "X", ED is much better in many ways. That's why I switched. But comparisons to EVE are inevitable. There are some things ED does better, and there are some things EVE does better, which is to be expected given that EVE has had more than 10 years to make improvements. I think mining is one thing EVE does very well, I spent A LOT of time mining in EVE. But in ED it's basically an arcade game of catch the flying rocks, and I don't know about you but I won't be doing any mining if it stays like that.
