Can't tell you how many times I've been in this position.
I buy a new ship and take it into Outfitting. I start kitting her out only to find the local station does not have a chaff launcher, or KWS, or 4C Bi-weaves, or 6A thrusters, or whatever. Then I need to go to eddb.io and find where all the pieces parts are. Then it's off into the black, picking up parts hither and yon.
We can transfer modules we own, so why can't we buy needed modules from remote stations and have them delivered. Would cost the same (in money and time) as an owned module transfer + the purchase cost + a surcharge for the service, say 5% or 10%. Then I can just wait until the parts are delivered into my stored modules and mount them on the ship. While waiting, I can either do missions or just hang around reading Galnet. I should be able to get most parts within 20-25 minutes unless I'm in Colonia or one of the deep space transit stations to the core.
It's a simple in-game solution that reduces reliance on external info sources and speeds up kitting out a ship.
