It basically tracks the trading that is being done in the "neighbourhood"
That means, for example, if someone found a good trade route and are "milking it" it will show up in trending.

When your flitting about the heavens and delivering commodities. It allows you to see what is being moved about and allows you to make better choices about which commodities you want to haul! Love the info and alt least for myself ,I find it very worth the costs.
Very worthwhile to only have the expensive items show on the trade map.
