Purchasing a 3d printed Anaconda

I've printed a Cobra and a Sidewinder before, there are lots of models out there.

As far as the Anaconda goes, this is the best one I've seen:

There's an option on the above Thingiverse page to have it printed by one of a number of professional services. I'd also be happy to do a test print and post pics if you'd like, I'm always looking for fun things to print. Thus far, my favorite Elite print has been a wireframe Cobra printed with glow-in-the-dark filament.

Get yourself a printer kit from Chyna for like $300 and print what you want. It will work out cheaper, and it's useful for other things too.

In any case, the print sizes are limited to around 210-240mm in either direction, so a "BIG ANACONDA" will have to be printed in segments. I would guess you would get charged around $30 per piece, so the end result would be half the price of a Chinese printer kit. And we all know - once you got one ship printed, you WILL want another ;)

I’m still waiting for at-home 3d-printer technology to improve a bit more. Specifically the ones that actually paint the object they print. Once those can be bought for home use (and produce something that actually looks like a finished product) I’ll buy one in half a heartbeat and print my entire fleet.

Anytime anyone mentions 3D printing I just have to post some pics!

I have a 3D printed cobra MK3 and a 3D printed Star Ship Voyager. Still need to paint them.

My m8 made mine but there's loads of files available online, just find a good one and submit it to an online 3d printing company, shouldn't cost the earth.

You could also try some papercraft models, they can look really good if you have decent card and a good printer.

I made a cobra MK3 and a coriolis station following this thread.

I'm messing with the mesh of the Fer Der Lance at the moment, for a potential 1:60 scale version, but most of the meshes I have seen need either a lot of clean up work (the engine does some of it in game through bump mapping and normals etc.) or will need extensive scratch built elements to bring out the details properly (again some stuff is baked into the textures used e.g. panel lines). All 3D prints also need a lot of TLC to get rid of the FDM lines.

Here's a spaceship I've just completed printing to get an idea of the work involved (took two years):

I approve of your choice of glue!

Ongoing Project

A 9 part one made using a Flashforge Creator Pro. ( Tesco banana for size!). In two halves as fitting lighting at the moment. Slow progress as i rather use spare time to play the game. Took about 6 weeks to get files manifold for printing using sketchup and meshmixer. Then a full week to print. This one been ship kitted as I like the spoiler and hate the anacondas 'notch'. Thinking of putting files up on thinyverse soon.

A friend of mine printed this beautiful Asp for me in 30 hours. I will never sell it, sorry.

That is lovely Alpenmilch - I think I see a transparent canopy on the front - how was that achieved if so?

Thanks also gunnerbill - not sure which glue, as I must have used all the types during the build apart from wood glue :)

You may also have noticed I bolted or pinned the engines to their mounts - there's a fair bit of weight in the full stack.

Thank you :) I will give this credit to my friend.

It wasn´t transparent in the first place. I made cuts into it and replaced the original plastic.

To be honest, it fits not perfect and I want to build a better very tiny transparent cockpit, when I find the time to doing so. I also want to look at the painting and labels again.

The Zap-a-Gap!

Best glue ever :D
