I was a big fan of Blue Fang’s Zoo Tycoon as a kid and was really looking forward to a spiritual successor. Unfortunately the path building system used in both Planet Coaster and Zoo is possibly the most frustrating path building I’ve ever seen in any game, ever. Well, maybe not Cities: Skylines.
Since I have not been able to purchase Planet Zoo yet (but have used the same system in Planet Coaster), I’ve been watching a lot of YouTubers playing it. I’ve noticed that laying paths is very tedious for pretty much everybody, even people who are used to it. The system is awkward and horribly slow; the inability to adjust the path placement without starting over makes the basic action of putting down footpaths stressful.
I think the best improvement that could be made on the current system is this: something which makes adjacent path pieces recognize one another, and is able to be selected and adjusted with a push-pull tool for fine-tuning path placement.
