Pushing negative reviews on SOCIAL MEDIA

After the disappointing road map in terms of communication, content and perception of their own product, I think all that remains is to use social media as well as FDEV does against them.

For many months we have been streaming uselessly with boring competitions on the best screenshots. A bit like when they give you sugar in school for the best drawing.

The roadmap is deliberately bland and useless because Frontier knew very well what they were releasing and David Braben did too.
It's pointless to treat us like disappointed consumers without ever taking any real internal action.
We have problems in the old release of gameplay and in the new DLC of performance, quality of life and again of gameplay.

We've seen over the years how FDEV kept their word for a little over a month and then reverted to their famous mediocrity.

Yesterday's announcement on Twitter was literally flooded with criticism but no one at FDEV seems to care.

We can use their useless social media communications as a sounding board to prevent new buyers being lured in by deception on a product that will also be broken in 2022. We have to be honest with ourselves, we have already had broken mechanics for 2 years and they will remain broken for a very long time and may never even be fixed. I think the new DLC will never get the proper attention but the usual mediocrity.

Frontier clearly doesn't know what to do with Elite.
It's a burden they have no vision or ability for.
They weren't even able in a week to build a real road map after it was announced to us to calm things down and they ended up with even more problems.

We are cheated and at the same time we know that Elite is the only game of its kind on the market. We're stuck because we don't want to go back to Horizon with the same mechanics we've seen for over 4-5 years, and we've been so starved that we play an obnoxious version just to see something different with the knowledge that it was a legalised scam with ad-hoc releases to make us believe what it wasn't.

From my point of view they deserve all the negative reviews on their every press release or social media message.

PS: we are all happy that with the patch of June 10 we will have the possibility to earn ARX with walking activities right? ahahahah what a shame.

I dont want to go back to Horizons simply because I feel like I was scammed by a company that made a game I've spent so many hours in. Like its soured the whole experience, why spend my time playing a game made by a company who doesn't care about their product anymore.

While NMS is not as interesting, and personally I don't like the flight mechanics, at least they've gone above and beyond trying to fix the damage they did to the people willing to buy and stick with their product.

Im past the point of anger....im just sad and tired of Elite as a whole now..

Yes, and I understand very well what you say.
Most of us now know that we are being treated superficially and unfortunately intentionally cheated.

Unfortunately, we have so few games that we are forced to suffer this treatment, and the frustration grows ever greater.

I was thinking last night with my community about how nice it was to see chain quests. First with the ship, then necessarily using rovers and our walking cmdr for external activities on planets.
It would give a new meaning to everything and they should simply combine 3 missions in one location instead of wasting our time with errand boy missions.

I imagine the Odyssey project has exceeded its allotted budget, requiring high scrutiny for additional support. Negative social media, if you could even be effective with it, will only serve to put future funding at risk. Potentially causing project closure and us being left with a broken expansion, forever.

So your solution is to bash Frontier until they drop the game because no matter what they do there will be endless complaining at anything they post and any work they show?

Yes, because we have no other way.
It is no longer possible for me to ask for a refund now.
I've made constructive threads, suggested mission types over the years and always brought their game up positively in my reviews.
I have reported many bugs and confirmed/voted those of other players.
Many of these are still present in Horizon for years and carried over directly into Odyssey.
When you get a faulty fridge do you keep it in the house or do you exchange it for another of the same model? If the defect is across the board do you ask for a refund? If you don't get a refund do you go home happy and satisfied?

We've had incredible hype about the roadmap to get points I would make at the end of meetings with the group I manage at work for hot topics of the week.

Here we have a product that is a failure from the ground up and will remain that way for many of its features because even if we fix it it will remain patchy. Building a product without a vision of the past and future and without implementing new and meaningful things is a journey towards a poor product.

I love Elite Dangerous and I was REALLLLY looking forward to Odyssey even though I didn't care about the FPS part.
But FDev is making it REALLLLY hard for me to keep wanting to love the game and care about it.

at some point I will be like "if it burns, let it burn because I don't care anymore"

If you read my last posts it's clear I'm not happy.

But I think we've got our point across, pushing bashing FDEV in social media will be counter-productive.

We're like the folks who love our jobs and strike to improve them without considering the owners might close the factory if we make it more trouble than it's worth.

We've made our point, now let's give them a chance to adjust course.

I wasn't really looking for it, yet i'm all over it now. 🤷‍♂️

My expectations were deliberately low. And have to say that, at least for this first two weeks, they were kinda met 😂
Try to get a refund and rebuy it later on, i'd say about 1-2 months After console launch

I think we need to encourage other Commanders to try other games or explore other entertainment.

I know many play Elite Dangerous as their only game. Hopefully Frontier will come through for them.

The most powerful tool for change are the gaming media journalists like Jason Schreier.
It was a godsend that Yong Yea covered the launch of Odyssey.

I do not know what consumer resources Xbox and PS4 have. But describing factually to console management what Odyssey for PC is like might ensure a more thorough evaluation of Odyssey by console QA before accreditation. This might better protect our console Commander brothers and sisters.

FD just don't learn. ED:O is like the launch of the small 'New Commanders' update that despite being small broke practically everything. Scale up that disaster and you have Odyssey which I do feel now is going to be the last 'big' update for ED- unless FD really pull out the stops and turn it around its damaged the brand and possibly dented FDs rep (which they want to cultivate since they are now producers).

If I may draw a parallel OP - there are quite a few of us who are outspoken critics of Star Citizen and CIG. Our words have appeared in social media, youtube videos, and gaming press articles. But at the end of the day, its all just words on the wind.

SC will succeed or fail not due to our words. Its success or failure is 100% on CIG and what they do.

By the same token, rant and rave all you like. Take it to social media (many have), take it to the gaming press, take it all the way to president.

Its just words on the wind and everything is in FD's hands, not yours.

Well, every expansion released are still broken, so Odyssey is just one more.

If this is their last update then they are done since it will demonstrate their inability to make a good game, no more Elite franchise ever.
If that's the case then they should go back to the theme park games and never think of another ambitious project. Then we will only have Star Citizen and it will hurt that game too since it won't have any competition and it will be another "Elite Dangerous quality" game.

Gaming died almost as soon as it became mainstream. Everyone is chasing dollar signs and quality is going through the floor as a result. That happens to every product, even something simple like food. If you want the best experience possible, it needs to be crafted by specialists at a high cost.
