Put a side panel on second monitor/MFD?

I am using a smaller second monitor, even consider the 8'' mini monitor setup for the MFD.
Is it possible to put one of the side panels (1,2 or 4) only on the secondary monitor?
That would be extremely useful, and beef up the flexibility of the rig a lot.

Hi,

the MFD pack, has NOT an monitor on it, they are just usb buttons with an plastic windows in the middle, you can use an monitor behind it some people do.....
I just have 4 mfd because of forgive me, I play star citizen to......
On the other monitors I show a jpg with an RARE route, an program for the Logitech g19 with data while flying and a trade searcher on the last screen on a android tv box I run EVA....
see pic..
I hope this was...helpfull

This thread seems as good a place as any to ask my second monitor question. Is there a way to use the second monitor without alt-tabbing out of the game?

I would like better control of the trade data on the second screen.

Yes, in graphics settings in ED, you can choose Full Screen, Borderless or Window. Choose borderless and you have full-screen where you can move the mouse to your second monitor.
Warning: The game loses focus, as does input commands when other programs have focus.

I know, I would buy a separate 8'' monitor and put it behind ... if the side panels could be "unlocked" and assigned to that specific monitor.

I don't think that's possible. Have you considered head tracking? It makes accessing the side panels as easy as looking at them.

Have any of you guys heard of a game called Black Desert Online? It is not a game I play (well I tried the trial and its not really my thing um .... oh yeah the point), they recently introduced a new feature they call Sticker UI (yes it is a bad name). Essentially what this does is allow you to drag certain UI elements out of the game screen and plop them down onto another monitor without having to faff around with changing resolutions or stretching the game across two monitors etc.

It seem such a simple thing which technically it most likely isn't but can you imagine how useful that feature would be in a game like Elite Dangerous. If the 3.0 expansion pack only offered that as its content I think I would probably be quite happy to hand over my money. Yeah I know it will never happen as it will require major retooling of the UI and so on but a person can dream :)

It would be great (especially with the new API concord!) if there was an app that allowed you to run the Nav/Comms menu and the Status/Inventory menu on a mobile device.

I'd live to have my menus on tablets either side of the main monitor, and would totally pay for the ability to do so.

THAT would be an awesome option!

A bit off-topic, but why are the MFD peripherals so expensive? It's a few buttons on a USB device. Sure, you don't get the economies of scale you get with the production of cheap mice, and presumably their target market don't mind the price, but still. There's a definite niche in the market for a cheapo box o' buttons peripheral.

Those aren't too bad in my opinion. £50 for a pair.

Look on android for EVA, and by Roccat the got a nice tablet setup with keys.......here some older pic.

It would be nice but it is not currently available as an option. DCS World flight sim allows you to export cockpit panels to other physical monitors its something Space Sims should look at supporting imho.

Yeah, not terrible. But 56 buttons total for £50 vs. 105 buttons on a regular keyboard for £10. I'm just surprised that there doesn't seem to be anything in that space. It would be cheaper to buy a dedicated cheapo android tablet and use Roccat PowerGrid.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

Not that it would be cheaper, but you could always go the 'roll your own' route with something like an iPac and some buttons.

If I could display something relevant and integrated to the game I'd be all over the idea...not interested in panels with lit up pictures behind them.

I've seen some gorgeous custom-made boards, but quite apart from all the soldering needed the cost of components is steep. Even less deluxe, it seems that buying buttons in small quantities has quite a price tag.

Are things like shield and hull strength in the log files, I wonder? If so, something could be done for those at least

Quick question re MFD, please?

Can you programme a series of key presses to a button? For example, to take a quick picture I now press CTRL+ALT+SPACE then F1 then H and only then do I move the camera to the required position. Can I map those three key steps to a single MFD key press?

Thanks in advance
