Put back the Shield percentage in Role panel please!

Title.

Edit to add:
In fact, aside from putting it back, make it better by moving it right under the shield rings themselves!
So I don't have to keep accessing the stupid Role panel at all.

And edit:
To redact my fuming OP out of respect and thankfulness, that they listened and granted us our small wish.

Thank you again FDev! It is little things like this that will restore our faith in you, trust me. o7

I was aware it existed but never had a use for it. Are there situations where knowing you have exactly 84% shield rather than say 80 to 90-ish is useful? Not being sarky, just curious if I've been missing out on something useful.
Frog my friend, not snarky all and thank you for the inquiry. Not sure how deep you are into combat but knowing this value is very important, for me at least. The rings are not enough to perfectly time PIP management and shield regen rates. The deployment of SCBs can also be optimised more precicely with this info. When you are familiar with your ships every nuance, it can mean life or death. Especially in PVP. o7

Edit again just to elaborate:
When exploring, knowing exactly 0.06 to hit 75% throttle makes all the difference between slowing too soon or overshooting for a loop of shame.

When core mining, your charges have to be placed precicely or else no boom or too big a boom.

Trading? Perfect prices and distance matter a whole lot.

You get the picture :)

Totally agree. Whoever thought that it was important during ship combat to see what blinking suit you were wearing obviously was part of the "build a FPS game" team and not someone who had ever (and I mean EVER) done any combat in Horizons.

The three rings are not enough - how can you tell how bright a ring is - when should I fire a SCB - should I back off a bit and empip my SYS?

Seriously, F D remember this is a space game, not a FPS with some travel mechanic to get to the next foot-fight.

So either give us back our Horizons-type status in the role panel or embed the numbers in the shield rings.

(BTW - not happy about loosing the promotion progress percentages either but that is not so important.)

Would be great to have that same info and PIP management when on foot as well... shield strength, ENG/WEP/SYS management. Loadout management in the right-hand panel on visor or right-wrist mounted holographic projector.

All the UI changes, including the drastic on-foot UI departure from the well known and functional ship UI... boggles.

Just to keep the thread moving... Here from EDH last night; I might be daft but those shield rings don't tell me that the shields are at 60%, please bring the numbers back in Oddity:

excellent plan, put it where it should be!.

as for the question about its use...
we are in a digital world
in a ship that's going to fight
would be more useful to see a total numeric value than some 'rings'
some people put more weight into numbers than graphic depictions.
I prefer precision. so, numbers.

when its down to nothing, its nice to know if I have 1% or 4 %, big time.....

This is why unfortunately I just don't believe them on stream anymore when they say that the UI guys are avid players of the game. They just can't be because if they did they would've seen this problem and many others on the first playthrough. I know Elite is being improved but that sort of jarring disconnection just makes me shake my head in disbelief. I can't trust a person as being someone who is a lover of the game if they didn't see something like the new UI as a problem. We even TOLD THEM it was a problem in the Alpha.. they only chose to listen when it hurt their wallets and that's just left me feeling very cynical now over everything they say. Glad it's getting fixed though. Thursday will tell if it's been properly fixed or not.

DIdn't even know about that number :D But yeh, would be useful.
...also they broke many small things - like ranking progress does not show %% exact now - bar only, not working livery on carrier for owner if no outfitting module, can count infinite.
...I'm afraid they will not fix all that any soon.

They somehow managed to break everything... it's almost impressive how nothing was left untouched. I have been struggling for a while and dutifully telling all my comrades to fill out bug reports etc. but there gets a point where you say to yourself "Enough! now you're just taking the proverbial" I expect to play in my free time not get exasperated over someone elses incompetance. The fact that the community has to scream till they are blue in the face just to get one or two quality of life fixes is beyond the pale.

From the creators of the popular hits "ships are designed with interiors in mind" and "similar performance to EDH", comes "my fellow CMDRs...".
