Ship Builds & Load Outs PvE FDL for RES

Hi,

had an FDL for a few months now, but am not feeling right with it.

I want to use it for RES Bounty Hunting but am unsure as to how to optimise its fit out.

Current fit is here...

I intend to Engineer FSD (haven't to date as I have been using my Multipew Conda or running missions in my Python). And also eng the shield boosters etc.

Should I do away with gimballed Burst and go fixed? Or go full Multicannon and hope that engineering gives me a secondary that will improve DPS on shields?

Would appreciate some ideas!

Looks like a standard FDL build quite like mine TBH, the flight model isn't for everyone though as it drifts in turns unlike a FAS or a Vulture (they fly like they're on rails ;)), engineering will add more of the ship's current abilities so if you're not liking the flight model currently.......

Here's mine from a while back, the MC is fixed as I find gimballed weapons in the huge slot a pain to line up as they can be blocked by the hull, this kind of weapon array is what I'd call two stage, that is use the lasers to remove the shield and then the MC to chew up the hull, all MC are very effective but ammo limitations can be annoying especially if you fit rapid fire mods.

class 4a shield + class 5 scb will give you more total MJ than class 5a shield + class 4 scb, but generally for sustained combat like RES i suggest thermal resistant bi-weaves + augmented reisstant boosters.

generally most loadouts will do in a FDL :)

what i personally like:

1. 4 focussed pulses + huge MC (corrosive)
2. Large efficient beam + 4 frags (ammo increased, 1 corrosive)
3. 3 efficient beams + medium MC or efficient pulse + huge MC
4. huge effcient beam + 2 MCs (overcharged, 1 corrosive) + 2 overchaged medium cannons
5. Huge MC (corrosive) + 2 medium PA + 2 seeker rack
6. 2 medium railguns + huge corrosive MC + efficient pulse turret + efficient fixed medium beam

Cheers!

Gives me some things to play with.

I agree that Vulture was more a bumper car style move and shoot, FDL does seem more floaty.

Actually its more like a Nissan Skyline vs a 69 Camaro on a road course. The FDL is not the Skyline. I have always really wanted to like the FDL. I like it on paper. But I'd rather be driving the Skyline even if I'd rather daydream about muscle cars. I always seem to climb back into a Courier, Vulture, or FAS no matter what I fly.
