PvE Flag on Group

Frontier should add a PvE only flag you can set on your group which has the effect of automatically ejecting a player from your group if they kill another commander while in your PvE only group. You would be able to add them back into your group if you wanted but the game would let you know they were previously ejected for bad behavior.

Since each commander only gets one group of their own, the owning commander should be able to set PvE flag on their group and also unset the PvE flag at any time. Other commanders will only be ejected for killing other commanders when the PvE flag is set. When a commander sets/unsets the PvE flag while commanders are in his/her group, those commands will receive a message similar to a system message telling them the PvE status of the group has changed.

Frontier Extra credit: If a commander fires on another commander not knowing the group they are in has been designated a PvE group, an indicator should light up warning them of they are ricking ejection from the group (preferably in some way which does break immersion).

I think Mobius would REALLY love to have this feature about now!

Disclaimer: If someone else has already made this suggestion, great minds think alike. I'm made this suggestion over and over before in other threads too.

I am the Ghost of Sandro Sammarco Past and I endorse this messsage.

 • When creating a group the player creating it can decide how the group will react to crimes committed by players while in the group
 • The player can decide to either count only crimes committed against other players, or against AI ships
 • The player can decide if a player who earns a bounty is either kicked back into the all players group, or can be kept in the private group

Totally agree this should be implemented.
Dedicated PvP games like Americas Army, Battlefield and such has simple implementations to manage the level of permitted PvP in individual groups and the way it's automatically enforced. This should not be hard for Frontier to implement and it would effectively end a bunch of debates regarding Elite Dangerous at the moment.
Some times I just get the feeling that Frontier is way too slow to react to ongoing things and issues. Another example is the over-exploited long distance missions they introduced last summer. Still not fixed today, which effectively has made the Elite ranking systems pointless. Same thing goes for naval rankings.
In Sweden there's a saying going something like "much talk, little workshop" (in Swedish: mycket snack, lite verkstad), I get the impression that this is a problem within Frontier Developments way too often. They want to listen to the community but, in the end they end up ignoring the community as they seem to be afraid to step on some toes.

Wow, I honestly don't recall ever reading that. Where did Sandro mention that? Is that something that is planned? It's surely not in the game and I missed it. Jack, post a link here where you found that.

A single kill might be a bit harsh. I wouldn't want to get booted from my group if I accidentally a hauler as I'm coming in to dock. There should be parameters customizable by the group owner.

A group owner has power over who can and cannot join their group. This suggestion doesn't give the player any more power than they already have. That's what makes it superior to all the other omg pve mode suggestions.

I see someone's already posted the link, but for future reference if a quote has a little orange* » to the right of the attribution, clicking it will take you to the source.

(Technically I had to create that one manually because the source thread is archived and can't be quoted using the forum buttons. But automatically created quotes work in the exact same way).

I just realised that not everyone might have visibility into the DDA. I was under the impression that the non-live DDF stuff was made public when it was archived, so apologies if that's not the case.

[SUP]*may not be orange, depending on your theme.[/SUP]

Ah, I never noticed that. Thanks

Holy mother of biowaste! Sandro mentioned a similar idea so long ago and it was basically forgotten?

I'm a software developer and I can tell ya, even not having access to the code, this feature really isn't a hard one compared to the massive challenges they're been working on and yet it would have such a positive impact on people's enjoyment of the game. I have to scratch my head a little thinking about why this one hasn't been done already.

It doesn't force anyone to play the game PvE only, it just enforces it for those who would like that saving people like Mobius a load of time. It would also reduces the number of griefers and whiners (at least on this subject) in the forum.
