PvE power play weapon advice

I avoid PvP and I haven't unlocked any of the powerplay weapons. Does anybody have any advice on what these weapons do in PvE? I'm currently using a Krait MKII. I own an anaconda but it's in the bubble and I'm in Colonia.

On the Krait I'm using 2 modded large Beam lasers which is the reason I went to Colonia to unlock the engineer - and one large and one medium multicannon all gimballed. Also one cannon which always runs out of ammo before I'm ready to return to a station.

Lots of ground to cover in your question. You have the Hammers, FSD torpedoes, Fed Enforcers, and so on.

They each have specific effects and some of them aren't that good over the standard models.

I don't think that being in Colonia is the best place to go after the Power-specific weapons due to its remoteness. To unlock, you have to pledge to a Power for three weeks, earn enough merits and then you can buy the weapon at Outfitters.

The one Power weapon I use all the time is the Imperial Hammer. I have also acquired Prismatics Shields.

The best thing you can do is to Google information on the Power weapons/equipment and search this forum as well. Then you can make some informed choices.

You can start unlocking engineers, which is what I did, while pursuing Combat elite, and getting access to the various levels. You can chose a path (Combat, Trade, Exploration) and work towards that goal. Lots of ground to cover. Good luck.

I'll probably return to the bubble soon but first I want to load up on what I can from the 2 engineers I unlocked. I currently have the best bi-weave shields I can get - how is the prismatic an improvement? Is the hammer similar to a cannon?

I've kitted out my Krait with 2 Pacifiers, a large gimballed overcharged corrosive multi and 2 Imperial hammers (like a combination of a fixed burst laser and a rail gun). Against NPCs it's a force of nature. Well worth spending time practicing how to use fixed weapons.

Prismatics are basically the opposite of biweaves - higher base strength than a standard shield, but much slower regeneration.

Useful on ships where:
- you expect to be under continuous fire, so biweave regeneration isn't helping
- you need a tonne of short term defence and expect to be out of there before they collapse
- you want decent shielding but don't have much space (a prismatic gives about as much shielding as a normal the size up)
- most of your shield strength is in SCBs anyway, so you don't care about natural regeneration and just want as big a shield as possible

Mostly I would go for biweaves for PvE purposes, though might put a downsized prismatic on a pure trade-and-run-away ship.

Join each and stock up on all of em. Fun to play around with.
Last time I was in a faction. Bought 1 of each size prismatic shield for spares.
